Airbus manager Steve O’Shaughnessy gave his thoughts after the Wingmakers stormed to a convincing win 0-3 at Llangefni Town.

Steve O’Shaughnessy hailed the professionalism his side showed to prevail victorious on a blustery evening on Anglesey against Llangefni.

The Bus were handed the lead in the match through Jack Williams’ own goal before Iwan Jones was sent off for the hosts on the brink of half time.

Airbus made the man advantage count in the second period as Jake Eyre and Beau Cornish added two further strikes to the tally; a result which sees the Wingmakers stretch their unbeaten run in the JD Cymru North to 12 matches.

The boss was delighted with the display that earned a 13th win in the competition this season in weather that was not conducive to silky football.

He also pointed to the impressive response to Jones’ red card. Airbus controlled possession against the 10-men creating multiple chances and also kept the attacking talents in the ranks of a relegation fighting outfit at bay throughout.

“Conditions in the game were the same as Llandudno,” O’Shaughnessy explained.

“It was bad for both teams, but I thought we handled it quite well.

“The pitch was tacky as well with a bit of rain, so it was a pleasing performance overall and a good three points.

“They’ve had one sent off and sometimes that doesn’t help us, but I thought we managed the game really well tonight.

“We scored three and could have scored a few more on another day. We’re also happy with the clean sheet.

“I thought from the first minute to the last we did a professional job today. It’s a tough place to come. I think they would’ve taken points off a lot of teams in these conditions.”

O’Shaughnessy also took pleasure in the exploits of Eyre and Cornish who both etched their names on the scoresheet.

Eyre’s second goal in November all but sealed the triumph midway through the final 45 minutes. The New Saints loanee then capped off a confident performance in midfield to net his fourth of the campaign.

However, the Welshman was slightly disappointed that top scorer Adam Davies was unable to find the target to add to the catalogue he has already bagged this term.

“They both took their goals well (Eyre and Cornish). We were desperate for Adam to score as well!

“He had his chances but at the moment it’s just not running for him but that’s not a problem. I’m sure he’ll go on a run of scoring again soon."

The Wingmakers return to action next weekend where Holyhead will be the obstacle O’Shaughnessy’s title hopefuls are tasked with overcoming.

Airbus have a faultless record away from the Hollingsworth Group Stadium to date in the Welsh second tier. Seven consecutive triumphs on the road representing a significant streak of positive results.

Despite these successes to date, the boss recognises the cruciality of maintaining a strong away form if the Bus are to win the title in April - plenty of trips to other teams' patch are still to come in the remaining matches.

“To win this league, it’s not just about us winning at home. It’s a long season and we’ve got the players who want to dig in and battle.

“We’ve got to keep going. We’re looking forward to Holyhead away next week now. It’ll be another tough game and one where we’ll have to be at it, so we’re looking forward to training on Tuesday and going from there.”
