The U8’s had the long trip away to Caernarfon Saturday. The players looked sharp in the warm up and this continued into the start of the game with some early goals across both pitches. It really clicked for the team with us playing some really nice football as well as defending well when we needed too. Throughout the game the lads created numerous chances and scored plenty of goals, including one that starting from the goalkeeper and was passed up the pitch for someone to finish off in the opposition box. The lads came off the pitch with big smiles on their faces and we all agreed that it was one of the best performances we have had so far this season. Well done lads.

Under 9’s made the trip to face the Cofi’s, a big physical team that presented similar challenges to previous weeks fixtures. During the first round of games Caernarfon made it difficult for the young wing makers to find their feet in the game and Airbus faced a lot of pressure. A much improved second round of games saw end to end football with both teams playing their part in a physical, fast tempo battle. Airbus managed to take control of the game and scored some excellent goals with their ability to make overloads in wide areas to break the opposition down.

Under 10’s faced a much improved Caernarfon team from last season, and you could see they had a lot of success staying on the ball at the beginning of the game moving the ball side to side, however our striker recognised this and begun to force them forward where our midfielders turned the ball over on the halfway line to set up plenty of attacks of our own. Airbus soon found their rhythm and their quality begun to show, with several overloads in wide areas our successful attacks were coming from our wingers. The defenders still had a job to do and an excellent partnership allowed us to protect our goalkeeper and limit the amount of shots he faced, but when he was called upon there was some phenomenal saves on display. A positive and entertaining morning of football with lots of great goals scored.

A long journey up to Caernarfon where we took 2 teams to play. Both teams did really well Airbus dominating the ball and created the better chances scoring a few goals! Very pleased with the lads keeping the performance high and scoring goals, this shows the consistency of team! There were moments where Caernarfon played through us but our keepers were up to the challenge.

The u12’s welcomed FAW regional girls north on Sunday. The boys started brightly and opened the scoring through captain Harry Pae. After early domination, several chances went wide of the target or were dealt with by the FAW girls keeper. The girls then equalised against the run of play with a breakaway goal that our defence didn’t deal with. Just before half time the boys took the lead through Arthur Williams after sustained attacks...2-1 to the u12’s at the break. The boys took on the information at half time to cause the girl’s problems and scored four goals without reply from Jesse Williams, Harry Williams , Thomas Wright and a second for Arthur Williams. Lots of substitutions and positional changes disrupted our shape for a period and the girls capitalised with two goals...6-3 to the u12’s. The boys regained their composure and scored two more in the last ten minutes with a fine left footed strike from Fynley Wardle and Arthur Williams completed his hat trick. 8-3 to the boys against a good well organised u14’s FAW regional girls team.

A trip on windy Tuesday night for the rearranged fixture v Bala Town FC. Against the wind in the first half the lads knew it would be tough. Our defensive backline of Caiden Baker-Williams, Sam Ibbitson, Alfie Neal and Aaron Charles were excellent with Fin Geary and Alex Mossman providing a solid midfield screen in front as we dealt with the direct play from our hosts. We tried to get the ball down and play against 50mph winds and when we got into the opposition half, Max Murray played in Josh Banks who struck home from 20 yards out. A fine strike and this settled the nerves. We kept it tight and went in 1-0 up at half time. In the 2nd half we had the wind with us and Bala rarely got into our half. We scored 2 further goals from Aaron Charles and Caiden Baker-Williams. An excellent performance out of possession from the Young Wingmakers, which enabled us to be positive in possession and come away with a 3-0 win on a difficult evening.

The first meeting of the two teams for nearly year. Although a slow start from Airbus, meant Colwyn Bay caused some problems going forward. An error in build up play gave Colwyn Bay the lead in the first 10 minutes. Airbus began to get a little frustrated with how we had started which led to no real control. Colwyn Bay doubled their lead after airbus failed to clear their lines in wide areas and switching off from the cross. Airbus grabbed a goal back just before half time from Tom Edwards heading in a Ben Williams free kick. Going into the second half Airbus began to get a little more control, creating a little more chances. Frazer won a penalty after shortly coming on which Warren Leach put away. After a break down the right hand side, Vaughn delivered and it fell to Josh Edwards who rifled one in low and hard. With 10 minutes to go airbus we’re just seeing out the game until a fast break led to a chance but it’s fell back to Harry Williams who scored an unbelievable goal in the top corner to round the comeback off.

Airbus hosted Wrexham at The Hollingsworth Group Stadium. In the first 15 minutes, Airbus had good spells on ball but mainly in their own half. Around the 18th minute, Airbus created the first chance, but in the counter the visitors scored their first goal. Wrexham intensified the pressure and end up scoring the 2nd, with an excellent lob at 28th minute. The hosts reacted really well the oppositions’ goal and endeavoured to regain the control of the ball. Both teams enjoyed a few chances until the half time, but neither were able to finish them. In the second half, both teams cancelled each other out. Airbus and Wrexham enjoyed long spells in possession - creating a few good attacking moments but without troubling the keepers. Overall, it was an excellent performance against last season’s champions. Despite the excellence of opposition, Airbus maintained their identity by being brave on ball and very solid defensively.
U17 Girls
The season opener for our U17s girls in their return to the North Wales Girls Football League was an away fixture against Llanrwst. The opening stages was a scrappy affair as both teams struggled to get any meaningful possession due to the small pitch. However, Airbus started to create a number of chances with the front three of Paige Rigby, Abbey Mayers and Olivia Nash a constant threat with their running in behind the Llanrwst defence. Midway through the first half, Airbus got their rewards from this threat as good work from the Airbus midfield resulted in a pass through to Liv Nash, who took on the right back to drive into the penalty area and finished neatly passed the Llanrwst keeper. The remainder of the first half saw both teams create a number of half chances but were unable to beat the goalkeepers. The second half was also a close affair with Paige Rigby, Grace Kehoe and Sophie Holden having chances to add to the scoreline but good defending always seemed to thwart them. Fortunately, the Airbus defence also stood strong which meant Liv's goal in the first half was enough to secure the first win of the season.
