Our assistant manager gives his thoughts ahead of tomorrow night’s top of the table clash with Llandudno at the Hollingsworth Group Stadium.

Wingmakers assistant manager Mark Allen is playing down the magnitude of tonight’s JD Cymru North potential title-deciding match against Llandudno under the lights.

However, for the occasion, history will be made along the sidelines as Sgorio broadcasts its first tier match. An event and occasion Allen Is hopefully can inspire the Bus to do their job come kick off.

“I don’t think it is a title decider, it is a big game.” Allen says

“We have been looking forward to it, the players are up for it. If you don’t want to play in these types of games, then you shouldn’t be in football really. It is going to be an event.

“It’s a big game on the TV, and we want to put in a performance and win the game. But we know that to do that we need to prepare right, they are tough opponents. Potentially going to be very tight matches just like the last two games. It is going to be a good game.”

Tonights match against Sean Eardleys side will be the third meeting of the season, however the first time we have faced off at the Hollingsworth Group Stadium. With both of our last two matches being true nail biters. A 1-2 victory back in September in the Welsh Cup, and a 0-2 victory in the wind back in November.

But the threat that our title rivals and this evening opponents possess is something we should not take for granted. Despite the fantastic season we have had, Allen has stated the task in hand is something we must be ready to face head on, and requires only the best from ourselves to get the final job done.

“Both games were really tight, they could have gone either way particularly the Welsh cup game. It was touch and go there and we managed to hang on. The league game, was a little bit different, we dug in after going down to ten men and at the end of the day it was a good performance, a solid one.

But you know it’s important on Friday night that we stick to our game plan, make sure we do things right, make sure we are professional. We know we’re going to be in for a tough game, we have to match them and when we get chances, need to be clinical.”

With our high scoring attack blitzing goals in the net, it may seem that the game against the Seasiders could be another opportunity to find a big score. But the visitors have the best defensive record this campaign, only conceding on 17 occasions this league season in 25 matches.

However, as obvious as it may sound, keeping a clean sheet later today could be the difference between the title and not. Something that has been hard to come by until recently. The Wingmakers have kept our position out of our net on four out of the last five occasions. But throughout this campaign we have only been able to keep 10 clean sheets from 24 matches. So the key to getting ourselves toward the end goal will be to stop the onslaught that could happen from the visitors offence.

“Clean sheets are really important, you base your performances on them and you can build the game off them. It is important that our defenders can keep that clean sheet, cause then it provides a platform for the forwards to do their thing. We are looking for a clean sheet on Friday, as we do going into every match.”

Since the turn of the year, the gaffer has been blessed with the opportunity to select from a full squad, something that as a club over the last couple of seasons has been a luxury we haven’t experience a lot.

However, as we are approaching the final few games, we have seen the true strength and depth of the squad, especially last week when another academy star made his first team debut in Brad Knight.

But for the biggest game of the season, we are without Jake Eyre due to suspension. However, the assistant manager revealed we do have some concerns.

“Steve Tomassen isn’t available, we’re not sure about Adam (Davies) or Oli (Lanceley) as we had to take them off last Saturday, so they are 60/40 against them really for both so we will have to see with them both. Good news though we do have Simon Spender returning. He comes in and brings that quality that we know he has got. It will be a case of assess the squad on match day.

“We have spoke lot this season that we have a good strong squad, we have told all the lads that they would all contribute at some point over the final run in. Whether that’s on or off the pitch. So it is all important we are together and galvanised for it. We will have some tough choices, even with the doubts.“
