U16 v Notts County
On Saturday the Wingmakers made an early, long distance start away to Notts County. The game started a bit scrappy with no team settling down and relaxing on the ball which was echoed in the amount of times the ball switched between both teams. Airbus were very disciplined out of possession, pressing and holding their shape at the right time making mature decisions of which out of possession attacking method to apply. Once the boys calmed they started getting success on the ball with some good phases of play with the final pass or the final decision not quite finding its target. Midway through the half the boys took the lead with some great play down the left hand side and a great cross by George Savage finding Kaidens head for a glancing header in to the Notts County goal. The team stayed disciplined and seen the half through comfortably without much threat towards our goal with Ollie pulling one great save when called upon.
Second half started similarly with County changing shape which the boys handled maturely and didn’t get pulled out of position by the change of shape adapting really well. Airbus had a chance to finish the game off with some great quick play but couldn’t find the net. Notts County stole a goal back as Airbus switched off for the only split second in the game costing them. The boys in blue had two more chances and a penalty shout before the game ended 1-1. Brilliant work from the boys with each representing the club and themselves really well. Thanks also to the parents who brought their kids and helped with giving a lift to others it’s appreciated by the club.
Man of the match
Louis Bebb - his positivity, motivation and the detail giving on the field was fantastic in the engine room. Also carrying information from the touch line to the rest of the team. His work ethic, winning second balls and his own battle in the middle was a massive factor in the performance. Great mature performance.
A huge well done also to Frankie playing up from the U15s , he was fantastic. His decision making of pressing and staying in shape as an inverted full back was exceptional for a youngster.
