Heartbreak for the WingMakers

Airbus UK Broughton were narrowly beaten 2–1 by The New Saints, despite a spirited second-half fightback that saw Jordan Evans produce a stunning free-kick equaliser. However, a late deflected effort from Dan Williams proved decisive for the visitors, who progressed to the next round of the cup.

Airbus started brightly, with Josh Stevenson finding George Peers between the TNS defence in the fourth minute. Peers did well to turn and create space for a shot, but his effort sailed over the crossbar. Three minutes later, Kaiden Cooke showed excellent strength and determination to evade several challenges before finding Peers, whose tame effort was comfortably collected by Jack Edwards.

Despite Airbus' promising start, it was TNS who took the lead in the 12th minute. The visitors won their first corner of the afternoon, with Ben Clark delivering into the box for Danny Davies to finish at the back post.

Airbus looked to respond, and Mason Blackwell-Jones saw an effort diverted wide for a corner in the 20th minute with an excellent save from Edwards. From the resulting set piece, Brandon Diau won the ball, allowing Jordan Evans to strike at goal, but his effort went straight at Edwards.

Cooke continued to cause problems down the flank, producing an excellent run past Leo Smith before crossing for Peers at the back post in the 24th minute. Peers connected with his head, but his effort narrowly cleared the crossbar.

At the other end, Louie Fallon was called into action in the 27th minute, making an excellent save to deny Jordan Williams and Oli Calland reacted the quickest to clear the danger. Jordan Evans then tried his luck from distance in the 32nd minute, but his effort rose over the bar.

Airbus felt they should have had a penalty in the 38th minute when Peers went down inside the box, but the referee waved away the appeals. TNS continued to threaten, with Davies keeping the ball alive in the 42nd minute before Josh Lock's attempted effort was hacked clear by Josh Stevenson.

The visitors went into the break with their one-goal advantage intact, despite Airbus creating opportunities of their own.

Airbus returned with renewed intent and nearly found an equaliser in the 52nd minute when Cooke sent an effort goal wards, only for the ball to spin agonisingly wide of the post.

Jordan Williams tested Fallon in the 60th minute, but the Airbus goalkeeper was equal to the effort, collecting comfortably.

The hosts' persistence finally paid off in the 66th minute. After Cooke was fouled, Airbus were awarded a free kick in a promising position. Jordan Evans stepped up and delivered a superb strike, curling the ball into the top-left corner to level the scores at 1–1 and send the home supporters into celebration.

Airbus looked to build on their equaliser, with Jordan Williams producing a clever flick-on two minutes later, but Fallon reacted well to gather the ball.

The hosts continued to look dangerous on the counter-attack, with Cooke driving forward in the 70th minute before delivering a cross into the box. Unfortunately, the ball was just behind Peers, and the opportunity went begging.

Airbus made their first change in the 76th minute, with Jack Parry replacing Oli Calland as the hosts looked to maintain their momentum.

With the match finely poised, TNS found a late winner in the 88th minute. The visitors worked the ball into Dan Williams, whose shot took a deflection off Stevenson and wrong-footed Fallon before finding the net.

Despite Airbus' efforts to get back into the game, the late goal proved decisive, leaving the hosts disappointed after a determined performance.
