Michelle Griffiths

A brilliant performance for the WingMakers to secure three points

Airbus produced an impressive attacking display to secure a 3-2 victory over Caernarfon Town, with goals from Oli Lanceley and a brace from George Peers putting the Wingmakers in control before a late fightback from the visitors made for a nervy finish.

The visitors threatened early on in the sixth minute when Sion Bradley was played through on goal, but Jordan Evans did well to force him wide, allowing Louie Fallon to gather comfortably.

Airbus responded in perfect fashion just two minutes later. Kaiden Cooke played the ball out to Evans, who delivered an excellent cross into the near post, where Oli Lanceley was waiting to produce a superb finish into the top corner to give the Wingmakers an early lead.

Jordan Evans continued to cause problems down the left, delivering another dangerous cross in the ninth minute which flashed across the face of goal but narrowly evaded both Lanceley and Peers.

There was a penalty appeal for Airbus in the 12th minute when Peers appeared to be brought down inside the box, but the referee waved away the protests.

Lanceley almost doubled the advantage in the 16th minute after intercepting possession and driving towards goal, but Connor Roberts came off his line to make an important save.

Ryan Sears tried his luck from distance in the 25th minute, although his effort sailed over the stand.

The game was then halted for a lengthy period in the 36th minute as a VAR check took place following an incident inside the Airbus penalty area, where initially Henry Charsley was caught but the ref gave a free kick to Airbus and Charsley was booked for simulation. After the review, Caernarfon were awarded a penalty and Charsley's yellow card was chalked off, with Bradley stepping up to send Louie Fallon the wrong way and bring the visitors level.

Airbus looked to respond immediately and, a minute later, Evans delivered another dangerous ball into the box. It was blocked by Jordan Piggot for a corner, with further appeals for handball waved away.

The Wingmakers came flying out of the blocks after the restart and restored their lead in the 48th minute. Airbus worked the ball brilliantly before finding Jordan Evans out wide, and his delivery into the penalty area was met by George Peers, who powered his header home.

Just four minutes later, Airbus extended their advantage. Oli Calland played an excellent through ball into Peers, who beat the offside trap before keeping his composure to calmly slot past Roberts and make it 3-1.

Airbus made a double substitution in the 68th minute, with Jake Roberts and Joe Palmer introduced for Oli Calland and Oli Lanceley.

Caernarfon looked to find a way back into the contest, and Noah Edwards tested Fallon with a shot from outside the box in the 74th minute, but the Airbus goalkeeper was comfortably behind it.

The Wingmakers made another change shortly afterwards, with Jack Parry and Mason Blackwell-Jones and George Peers making way, while Jordan Evans was also withdrawn.

Noah Edwards had another opportunity in the 85th minute after Bradley delivered an inviting ball into the box, but he could only poke his effort wide at the back post.

Airbus made their final substitution in the 86th minute, with James Hughes coming on for Kaiden Cooke.

Caernarfon continued to push in the closing stages and Sion Bradley's free-kick in the 89th minute found Chris Marriott, whose header sailed over the crossbar.

There was still time for late drama in stoppage time, however, as Zack Clarke rose highest to meet a Caernarfon corner in the 94th minute, heading home to reduce the deficit and set up a tense finish.

Despite the late pressure, Airbus held on to secure an important victory, with Peers' second-half brace proving decisive after Lanceley's superb opener.
