Read about the final Flintshire derby of the season, as the Wingmaker narrowly lost 3-2 at Halkyn Road.

Johnny Hasedlin side were just able to get the better of the WIngmakers, with an Own Goal from Calum Humphries and strikes from Tom Bibby and David Forbes giving the hosts victory in a firery match at Halkyn Road.

Nathan Brown and Joe Palmer did get the goals for our Champions, but sadly were not enough to see us leave with any points on the day.

Steve O’Shaughnessy made six change to the starting lineup from our 4-2 victory over Gresford , With Jamie Crowther, Ieuan Hewitt, Jake Eyre, Brady McGilloway, Humphries and Elliott Orton all coming in for Ryan Edwards, Gaz Edwards, Simon Spender, George Peers, Owen Payne and Beau Cornish.

As for the hosts they made two changes to the starting lineup from their 4-1 victory against Prestatyn, With Bibby, Paul McManus and coming in for David Hayes and Connor Shackleton.

The Wingmakers got off to the perfect start thanks to Brown straight from the kick off. Pouncing on a mistake by the hosts, and scoring the goal within the first 10 seconds.

However, the lead only lasted 18 minutes. An unfortunate back pass from Humphries missed any remaining Wingmakers in our half and ended up in the back of our net.

The Wingmakers were nearly back in front nine minutes later. Brown again with the attempt, but with the box filled with bodies, his attempt was blocked by Oli Lanceley.

Both sides continued to push for the lead before the break, but neither side could break the deadlock before the interval.

Into the second half, and it was Brown once again who nearly gave us the lead. Eyre produced a stunning cross to find his attacking partner, but the header from our number 20 was just wide.

However, three minutes later, the hosts were the ones to open up the game. Forbes was able to wiggle his way through, and fired just past Lewis Dutton in the 1-on-1.

Despite going behind, the Wingmakers were not deterred, and their efforts paid dividends 10 minutes later. Palmer with a thunderous effort into the bottom corner, left Keighan Jone with no chance to stop it.

But the thriller was not finished, Bibby got his side back in front six minutes later from a corner. The number seven for the Wellmen was able to beat our defence and head home.

Despite falling behind, we still pushed for points. Payne in the 80th minute, found Brown free, but his cross narrowly missed the number 20.

Humphries was then called into action twice in the space of five minutes. First he played a part in a double stop to keep the score as it was Dylan Allshorn firing from a rebound, not once but twice. Our number 12 produced a fantastic goal-line clearance, before Allshorn tried again to be denied by Dutton.

The second stop was again on Allshorn, but this time on the edge of the box, making a fine tackle to stop the break-away. Beating the man to the ball.

We have one more match to finish our 2021/22 JD Cymru North winning campaign as we travel to Guilsfield on Saturday, looking to end our season with a win.
