It was a beautiful, sunny morning at Airbus as the U17 girls welcomed Brymbo for what proved to be a competitive and physical encounter.

Airbus started the game with real intent and were rewarded almost immediately. In the opening minute, Juliet pressed brilliantly to close down a back pass, capitalising on the opportunity to put Airbus 1–0 ahead.

Brymbo responded by stepping up the pressure and matching Airbus physically. Both teams created chances in a closely contested first half, with Airbus showing determination and commitment to maintain their advantage heading into the break at 1–0.

Airbus came out strongly in the second half, creating opportunities and putting Brymbo under pressure. Their positive start paid off in the 54th minute when Libby played an excellent through ball for Emily to run onto and finish confidently, doubling Airbus’s lead to 2–0.

Brymbo refused to give up and increased the pressure as the game progressed, forcing Airbus into a physical battle across the pitch. The Airbus girls showed tremendous determination, chasing every ball, competing for possession and working tirelessly for one another.

Brymbo pulled a goal back in the 72nd minute, setting up a tense final period as they pushed forward in search of an equaliser. With eight minutes remaining, Airbus had to dig deep. The girls stood firm, producing crucial defensive blocks and a fantastic save from Summer Owen to protect their lead.

Through hard work, resilience and a real team effort, Airbus held on to secure a well-earned victory in a challenging encounter.

Summer Johnson was outstanding in midfield, playing a vital role in disrupting Brymbo possession and breaking up their attacks. Her tireless work rate, determination and refusal to give up helped Airbus battle through a demanding game. A thoroughly deserved Player of the Match!
