Airbus Under 8’s vs Newtown Under 8’s
Airbus Wings
The Airbus Wings got off to a flying start with a resounding win in their opening game, but it could have been a very different story if not for goalkeeper Dewi Noonan, who pulled off a fantastic double save in the opening 20 seconds to keep his side level. That moment of brilliance set the tone, and from there Airbus took full control of the match.
Lyle Tonge opened the scoring with a superb half-volley, before further goals came from Giorgio Halfpenny-Gambling, Albert McComb, and Harri Williams. The standout moment of the match, however, belonged to debutant Wasim El Mounadil, who lit up the game with five goals in quick succession, each one struck with power and precision.
The second game brought more of the same—fluid passing, clever movement, and goals shared around the team once again. The Wings played with confidence and flair, showing excellent teamwork from back to front.
Airbus Makers
The Airbus Makers also impressed, beginning their day with an emphatic win built on sumptuous passing and composed finishing. Oscar Williams, Elliot Waters, and Harrison Moutzakis all found the net in what was a dominant and stylish performance.
The second game was a tougher test. Despite creating chance after chance—striking the bar and post multiple times and being denied by some fine goalkeeping in one-on-one situations—the Makers were ultimately punished in the final minute, falling to a narrow defeat.
Games like that can happen, but there were plenty of positives to take, most notably the creativity, movement, and relentless attacking intent that kept the opposition under constant pressure.
Overall, it was another strong weekend for the Airbus U8s, with both teams showcasing excellent football, great teamwork, and a fantastic attitude throughout.

Airbus Academy Under 10’s v Newtown Academy Under 10’s
The Under 10’s hosted Newtown on Saturday morning. The wingmakers started very brightly going 2-0 up in both games within the 1st 2 minutes of the game. As the 1/4’s went on Airbus dominated the games with a lot of goals and restricting the opposition to very little. Some very good individual performances during the game including 8 goals from Harvey and Eddie causing numerous problems for the opponent’s to deal with. Even with the scores very one sided the lads kept their standards high and continued to play the right way. Overall a great performance that summed up our strong start to the season.

Airbus Academy Under 11’s v Newtown Academy Under 11’s
This weekend saw us take on Newtown at home in what turned out to be a dominant display across both games.
We started extremely fast out of the blocks and Tristan’s high press led to him rounding the keeper and slotting in to go 1up within 1 minute.
More of the same followed for Airbus in the first period. Noah and Harry being direct in the wide areas, creating lots of chances and H getting on the score sheet again.
The focus at half time was to keep a clean sheet and manage the game well. James in goal made some outrageous saves but also supplied an assist for our third goal!
The second game was much more of the same from the boys. Indy and Huddy solid at the back all morning, putting bodies on the line to stop shots and block crosses. Jude was able to win the ball high up the pitch by anticipating Newtowns play. Another great performance where we had to dig in defensively in the last 10 minutes to see out the win.

It was a close one between Tristan and James. Both superb in their own way, but I gave it to James for his 2 assists and huge saves at crucial times in the match.

Connah’s Quay Academy Under 12 3-2 Airbus Academy Under 12
Today we travelled to Connah’s Quay for an early morning kick-off, fully aware it would be a tough challenge. Both teams started brightly, with strong battles all over the pitch—both individually and collectively. Despite a solid start, Nomads took the lead in the 9th minute from their first real chance. We struggled to find our rhythm early on, lacking fluid connections and composure on the ball. After a few tactical tweaks, our defensive shape improved, but our passing and overall quality in possession still fell short.
Around ten minutes before half-time, Mason Rimmer produced a brilliant individual effort to bring us level. That goal lifted the team’s confidence, and we started to play some better football, creating chances but without the final touch to take the lead.
We began the second half with great intent, pushing forward and using the width effectively. Our attacking play paid off when a clever combination led to Mason Rimmer delivering a dangerous cross into the box. George struck towards goal, but the ball was blocked by a Nomads defender’s hand, earning us a penalty. Unfortunately, we couldn’t convert the spot kick, which affected our momentum.
Nomads capitalised on that moment, enjoying a strong 15-minute spell and scoring twice to take control of the game. Despite this setback, the boys showed great character to keep pushing forward, and our persistence was rewarded late on when Blake fired a superb free kick into the top corner just two minutes before the final whistle. Sadly, there wasn’t enough time to find an equaliser.
It was a good game of football overall, full of effort and determination. Every player gave their best and showed strong attitude throughout. Just fine details during the game made the difference today, but the boys can hold their heads high for their work rate and resilience.

Connah’s Quay Nomads Academy Under 13’s 1 -3 Airbus Academy Under 13’s
Our Under 13s wingmakers travelled to Connahs Quay for the Sunday 11am ko.
The first 25 mins was a scrappy affair with neither team taking any control with no clear chances being created.
In the 26th min Airbus eventually took an advantage on an overload created down the right side.
Sam pulled a cross backwards to find Harris Morris to calmly slot into the lower left hand corner.
Ht 0-1
Minutes into the 2nd period Airbus struggled to defend a through ball of which we were penalised for. The next 20 minutes Nomads put us under pressure but some great determined defending kept them at bay.
With the last 15 mins Airbus found there passing game and created chance after chance but never took an opportunity to win the game they deserved.

Connah’s Quay Nomads Academy Under 14’s 2-4 Airbus Academy Under 14’s
Airbus made the short trip to Connah's Quay to face the Nomads.
The pre-match team talk focused on setting up against a 4-3-3, but Nomads lined up in a 3-5-2 and came out aggressively from the first whistle.
Our boys struggled in the opening stages, particularly out of possession, as they tried to adapt to the unexpected shape. Just 7 minutes in, Nomads’ No. 9 capitalised on a well-played ball and finished clinically to make it 1-0.
A few tactical changes were made around the 23rd minute, which helped settle the team. Seb began to find space down the right-hand side, and in the 32nd minute, delivered a cross that Macsen headed just over.
Moments later, Seb and Jacob combined well on the edge of the box, with Jacob striking cleanly to bring us level before the break.
Halftime score: 1-1
The halftime team talk focused on being more aggressive, taking control of the game, and staying disciplined out of possession. The boys responded brilliantly.
The game opened up in the second half, and in the 57th minute, we won a corner. Henry Carter delivered a perfect ball to the back post, where Arthur attacked the space to head home and give us a 2-1 lead.
Just five minutes later, Adam was fouled out wide, earning us a free kick. Once again, Henry stepped up and found Arthur at the far post, who headed in his second of the game. 3-1 Airbus.
However, we lost focus briefly from the restart. Trying to overplay in midfield, we gave the ball away, and Nomads broke quickly down the right. Their No. 9 struck again to make it 3-2.
We made a late change, with Leo coming off and Dafydd coming on to play as the No. 9. With just a minute to go, Nomads' keeper was caught high out of his area, and Dafydd showed great composure to lob him and seal a well-earned 4-2 victory.
Final Score: CQ Nomads 2 – 4 Airbus

Outstanding performance in both boxes. Dominant at centre-half and took both of his goals brilliantly. Well done!
Special Mention
Henry Jones – Played the full game in the No. 6 role with great maturity and composure, especially during a difficult time after the recent passing of his dad, Simon, on Friday. The entire team and staff send their heartfelt condolences.

Airbus Academy Under 15 5-0 Newtown Academy Under 15
The Under 15’s welcomed Newtown to the Hollingsworth Group stadium where an impeccable minutes silence in remembrance of Simon Jones (the late father of Henry Jones U14) was observed by both clubs.
The game was a tight affair for the first 10 minutes before Airbus took control and played some nice football - taking the game to our opponents.
We were having success on both wings and stretched the opposition backline. Thus, Jack Hardstaff got in behind the Newtown defence and Jack Owen finished well at the near post. Airbus made it 2-0 when a fantastic reverse pass from Charlie Wild played in Jack Owen who slotted the ball home nicely. Newtown finished strongly for the last 5 minutes where Shay Moroney made a fine save.
2-0 can be a dangerous scoreline, but the Young wingmakers didn't let anything affect their performance and this half of football is probably the best that they have played this season. The lads were in total control throughout, looked dangerous every time they went forward with excellent forward passes and numerous willing runners.
Our pressure told as Jack Owen completed his well deserved hat-trick again after good work from Charlie Wild.
Ethan Jones then stepped up with a strike into the top corner after some fine play from Sam Williams. This is the 2nd goal in 2 games from Ethan - who is playing extremely well at the moment and striking the ball well with Increased confidence.
Jack Owen scored the 5th and final goal as Jack Hardstaff again got in behind the opposition defence and played an inch perfect pass to ensure a tap in.
A lot to admire from the U15s this morning - secure at the back, balance in midfield and numerous attacking options when going forward. Put this with their increased intensity both in and out of possession - they are now set up to compete and be successful going forward.
Player of the Week
Jack Owen
Not just 4 excellent goals from Jack, as during the 2nd half he played in a new position for his Individual development in the 10. He enjoys running from deep and committing defenders which is improving week by week. His work rate was excellent and he is now on the right track to develop all areas of his game.

Airbus Academy Under 16 2-1 Newtown Academy Under 16
The atmosphere was good in the dressing room prior to the fixture and the lads were up for the game. Detail was given to them - they needed to bring the intensity...to which they did after observing an impeccable minutes silence.
The match was a cagey affair with no real clear cut chances in the first 20 minutes. Newtown had a good first 10 minutes without penetrating us at any point, but the Young wingmakers played themselves into the match and looked to make chances in the opposition penalty area.
Jack Davies hit the bar from an excellent header and the opposition keeper made 2 excellent saves from Will Hewitt and Dylan Cusato. We piled on the pressure and just needed a little bit of quality.
Thus, step up Jake Pendlebury - he received a forward pass from Will Hewitt flicked the ball over the opposition defender and slid the ball past the excellent Newtown Keeper. One of the best individual goals that will be scored on the Hollingsworth Group Stadium pitch, which brought applause from everyone. 1-0 @ half time and in full control.
2nd half was more of the same and Airbus were in control. We had a free kick where Jack Davies swung the ball in to the back post, Will Hewitt knocked the ball back across the 6 yard box for Jake Pendlebury to tap in and make it 2-0.
We then had numerous chances to kill the game off, some of the football was outstanding at times, but we just werent clinical enough in the opposition box.
We looked the see the game out but unfortunately the opposition got one back from a corner with the last kick of the game.
The game ended 2-1 in favour of the young wingmakers who can be happy with their performance this afternoon.

Sunday saw the Under 19’s travel down to Caersws in the youth cup. Although we were the better team we were unable to deal with the opposition direct play. Creating so many chances but unable to convert anything on what was a flat performance after Wednesday. Three games in seven days proved a bit much for the young wingmakers. Final score 3-1 Caersws

Josh delivered so many crosses from the left side, it’s just a shame we couldn’t turn them into goals
