Airbus Wings
The Wings came flying out of the blocks, setting the tone with sharp passing and intelligent movement. From the first whistle, it was clear the team was determined to play football the right way—quick, one-touch combinations and always looking for the player in the best position. Goals from Wasim (2), Beau (2), Alfie, Albert, Elliot leading to a 7-2 win.
Wasim and Beau led the charge with two goals apiece, demonstrating clinical finishing and great awareness. Alfie, Albert, and Elliot added their names to the scoresheet with strikes that capped off flowing team moves.
The defensive unit also deserves credit—calm under pressure and quick to turn defence into attack. Even when Nomads managed to score, the Wings responded with confidence and control.
The Wings continued their dominance in the second game with a 7-1 win. The passing was crisp, the decision-making was mature beyond their years, and the finishing was ruthless. Beau and Wasim once again showed their attacking prowess, each bagging a brace. Alfie added another to his tally, while Harri’s strike was a reward for his tireless effort. The own goal came from relentless pressure that forced mistakes from the opposition.
Player of the Match
Beau Darlington - relentless pressing to add to his goals scored
Airbus Makers
The first match began with a tough start as the opposition raced into a 4–0 lead. Many teams would have folded, but not the Makers. They regrouped, showed incredible spirit, and began to claw their way back into the contest with goals from Charlie, Jack, Oakley and Lyle.. Charlie’s strike sparked the comeback, followed by Jack’s composed finish.
Oakley added another with a well-taken effort, and Lyle capped off the fightback with a clinical goal. The team pressed hard for an equalizer, and although it didn’t come, their determination was excellent.
The second game followed a similar pattern—early setbacks, but an incredible response. Again, the Makers found themselves 4–0 behind, but their heads never dropped. They fought back with energy and belief, turning the game into a thrilling contest. Oscar was excellent, scoring twice with sharp finishing and great positioning. Lyle continued his fine form with another goal, and Harrison’s strike was a testament to his persistence. The team pushed hard for a fifth goal to level the match, but time ran out.
Player of the Match
Harrison Mouzakitis - Never gave up and some excellent footwork
Under 9
The boys started a little slowly at the Airfield and took some time to find their rhythm. Our usual pass-and-move style wasn’t quite there in the early stages, but once the team settled, they grew into the game and began to create some great chances — finishing with a number of well-worked goals.
Players of the Match were our two goalkeepers, Zak Shields and Lucas Jones, who both put in excellent performances.
Well done, boys — a great effort all round!
Under 10
Our Under 10 wingmakers welcomed Connah’s quay to the Hollingsworth this Saturday morning, in which is always a competitive game.
Our 10s started lively all over the pitch dominating in their individual battles resulting in an excellent first half performance.
Our young wingmakers continued this dominance and were on the front foot throughout the morning scoring an abundance of goals whilst both keepers remained focused at the back.
Players of the Match
Charlie Hough-Smith as he was able to create multiple moments of brilliance to put airbus in the lead scoring a hat-trick
Henry O’hare Sweetman who made some excellent saves throughout the game whilst also playing killer passes to put airbus on the attack and give us control.
Truly a class performance from the whole team and a well deserved win.
Under 11
The Under 11s took on local neighbours, Connah's Quay Nomads once again this Saturday Morning, at the Airfield. Nomads started really well with an intensive press, looking to put the Young Wingmakers under pressure in their last third. This pressure resulted in a early goal, when the Connah's Quay midfield pounced onto a loose ball in the centre of the pitch and a long range shot found the back of the net.
Airbus were slowly getting themselves into the game and started to play some good football. A good counter press resulted in Airbus winning the ball high up the Pitch and Tristan Hughes finished well to level the score.
However, as the first period came to a close, Nomads got themselves a second goal after a good quick passing move. At the break, we spoke about being more disciplined out of possession and individual roles to counter the Nomads strategy, and the players transferred this onto the pitch brilliantly , which resulted in them not conceding another goal throughout the morning.
The second period, there was some good football on show from both teams, however no further goals were scored for either team.
The second game was a similar affair, with Airbus being organised defensively and looking to break quickly on the counter attack. Indy Peyton and Arthur Irwin were a solid pairing at the back. thwarting any Connah's Quay attacks, and the occasions they did get beat, GK Joseph Tuplin was at hand, producing some good saves when needed.
The hard work Airbus were doing out of possession paid off, when Harry Jarvis broke down the left hand side, taking on the Nomads defence, to get himself to the byline, where he produced a great cut back, with Body well placed to finish.
The remainder of the second game played out with no further goals but some good standard football on show.
Players of the Match
Indy Peyton & Arthur Irwin
The defensive pairing read the game brilliantly, playing on the front foot to start the Airbus attacks
Under 12
Airbus Academy Under 12 3-1 Caernarfon Under 12
Airbus hosted Caernarfon this morning in what was billed as a top-of-the-table clash against last season’s national champions. Having drawn twice away earlier in the season, we knew this would be a tough, physical contest—and the boys were well aware of the challenge ahead. It truly was a game of two halves.
First Half
It was, without question, one of our poorest halves for a long time. We struggled to put passes together and never completed more than four or five in a sequence. The plan was to play more direct to exploit our strengths and Caernarfon’s weaknesses.
Despite the difficult start, we took the lead through a trademark move: a superb diagonal pass from Shay in goal to Mason Rimmer, who made the straight run and finished clinically. A carbon copy of our goal against TNS the previous week—and one we have seen multiple times in friendlies.
Caernarfon equalised shortly after, and we were fortunate not to fall behind. Shay produced several outstanding saves to keep us level. Thanks to him, we reached halftime at 1–1.
Second Half
During the break, we spoke honestly about the performance and asked the boys to do one thing: put the ball down and play.
The response was exceptional.
The second half was a completely different game. The transformation was incredible—the boys played fantastic football, controlled possession, and were a joy to watch. We were rewarded when Blake produced a world-class assist for Tyler, who finished with real style to make it 2–1.
From that point, the match became fiery and intense. We limited Caernarfon to very few chances while creating three or four big opportunities of our own. In the 70th minute, Tyler sealed the win with another superb goal, this time from a brilliant assist by Rimmer.
Full-Time
A massive win and a well-deserved three points in a high-level battle between two excellent teams. The Wingmakers stay top of the table for the fourth week in a row.
Outstanding character, Outstanding response, Outstanding result.
Players of the Match
It is very difficult to choose, some outstanding performances from Tyler, Blake, Arlo, Rimmer and Archie but the awards go to two superb performers
Kian Mills
What a game from Kian. Destroyed all their attacks and a deep seated playmaker who transformed the game completely. Some class through passes. Calm and composed.
Shay Davies
Not only kept us in the game but also grabbed himself an assist. Best keeper in the league by far.
Under 13
Airbus Academy Under 13 0-2 Caernarfon Under 13
The 11-30am ko saw our Airbus 13s host a strong physical Caernarfon side who we recently were well beaten by a few weeks earlier.
Airbus started brightly creating opportunities which we were unable to finish due to a strong opposition defensive unit. After a stalemate 25 mins Airbus failed to clear lines 3/4 times before a low shot gave Caernarfon the opener and lead at the break.
In the 2nd period Airbus changed formation to brave 2-4-2 which potentially gave us more of an attacking threat going forward. Our wing makers pressed hard but lacked our passing detail quality which unfortunately broke down the majority of our overload/attacking opportunities.
With time running out we pushed players forward to try create the equaliser and got caught on the break eventually losing 0-2.
It was a great effort by the team but we all agreed post match our passing detail was below par and struggled to some degree with their constant long ball tactic.
Player of the Match
Sonny Rose
Sonny kept us in the match with a number of quality saves and majority of distribution throughout the match was excellent.
Under 14
For a change, we had a lovely crisp Sunday down at the Airfield as our Under 14s took on Caernarfon in their latest Academy fixture. The opening stages saw both teams passing the ball around well, creating a number of half chances but nothing to threaten the goal.
The first good chance of the game came when Caernarfon broke from a cleared long ball, with the center forward bearing down on goal but Airbus GK, Joey Murphy, was quick off his line to to force the ball wide for a corner.
The next good chance fell to the Wingmakers, when Macsen Baker delivered a fantastic corner, which Arthur Williams narrowly headed wide. The remainder of the half saw both teams play some good football but neither could find the break through and it remained scoreless.
The first goal of the game came five minutes into the second half when Caernarfon benefitted from a bit of a defensive mixup just outside the area which allowed the Caernarfon striker to pass the ball into an empty net.
This gave the visitors a boost and they were now playing the better football. A good move down their right hand side, allowed them to find their stiker in the box, whose strong shot found the net. Airbus tried to respond with Arthur Williams and Leo Killick both coming close but the game was over when Caernarfon got themselves a third with fifteen minutes to go.
In summary, Airbus had some good phases throughout the game and the coaches could see the players tried to implement certain patterns from training, which we appreciate will get better very quickly once the new additions to the squad get settled in.
Player of the Match
Macsen Baker
Tireless workrate through with very positive attitude.
Under 16
A tough morning for the Under 16 away at Connah's Quay Nomads. A couple of players missing which disrupted our shape, but nevertheless we went into the match on the back of a positive result last week.
We started brightly and the game was even for 15 minutes. However we conceded 4 poor goals in 20 minutes, all which were avoidable, but the lads just didn't do enough to defend the moments. We did manage to get one back just before half time when Callum Reynolds battled hard and finished well into the bottom corner.
We asked for a reaction and for the lads to show us what they were capable of in the 2nd half. We had moments but again didn't defend well enough and conceded 2 further goals.
We did score the final goal of the game after good play from Caiden Baker-Williams and Callum Reynolds to set Alex Mossman for a first time finish.
Player of the week
Callum Reynolds
Worked hard throughout, scored a goal and assisted. Looked to be a problem to the Nomads backline and never stopped running.
Under 19
Airbus travelled up the road to play Nomads at the Poppies 3G on Sunday afternoon
Airbus started really well and had the better of Nomads early on in the game creating a couple of early chances. Eventually rewarded for a great phase of play playing out from the back Louis Bebb plays a lovely ball in for James Allen to neatly find the back of the net on 14’ of the game. Creating several more opportunities in the first half just unable to finish. HT 1-1
Second half again Airbus started on top creating chances to sneak ahead however against the run of play Airbus conceded again and unfortunately it took the wind out of their sails. Five minutes later they conceded a carbon copy goal. Frustratingly Airbus still created enough chances in the last 30’ of the game to win the game but were unable to finish
On a positive note today saw Dylan Cusato an Under 16 play 90’ for the Under 19’s and Finn Hayes and Bailey Davies all feature for the first time in the development league and all three lads were great, all positive for the future
Player of the Week goes to James Allen who has not only scored a worldie of a goal but has worked exceptionally hard in training in recent weeks. Keep it up James
