Penultimate week of our 2025/26 season with games for our young wingmakers v JAM Academy and Halifax Town

Under 10's

The Under 10’s travelled to Tranmere’s training ground on Friday night to play JAM Academy in a friendly fixture.

Both teams started well and it was a basketball style match with both keepers pulling off some good saves. At half time the score was 1-0 JAM.

2nd half the Airbus lads started to gain control on the game and created a number of chances, Harvey scored 2 and trialist Rhion scored 1 to make the score 3-1 before Jam pulled one straight back and set up a tense last 10 minutes. Airbus saw the game out and got a 3-2 win.

The lads were excellent on the ball looking to keep possession and combine while off the ball they worked hard to put pressure on and block any chances. We had a change in formation which lads took on really well too.

Player of the match

Harvey Black

Under 12's

Airbus Under 12s 5–0 Halifax Town Under 12s

Airbus Under 12s produced one of their best performances in recent weeks with an excellent 5–0 victory over Halifax Under 12s on Saturday morning at Hollingsworth Stadium.

First half

From the first whistle, Airbus controlled the game with intensity, great passing, and clever movement through the middle. The boys created several chances early on before Mason Rimmer scored twice after putting pressure on the Halifax goalkeeper and capitalising on inaccurate distribution. Airbus also showed great tactical maturity by executing new build-up patterns brilliantly to go into half-time 2–0 ahead.

Second half

The boys continued in the same fashion, with Airbus dominating possession and combining brilliantly across the pitch. Archie Davies scored a fantastic long-range effort into the top corner before Tyler Jones and Mason Davey added two more goals from excellent passing moves to complete the 5–0 win.

Overall, it was a quality team performance with every player contributing.

Player of the Match

Ollie Nicholls

Despite Halifax having very few chances, Ollie was excellent throughout. His positioning, physicality, distribution, and composure on the ball helped Airbus control the game and secure the clean sheet.

Airbus Under 12s 3 – 1 JAM Academy

The Under 12's also hosted JAM Academy on Monday evening in another good test for the boys during the final week of the season. The team finished on a positive note with a strong performance and another well-earned win.

Airbus started the first half really well, showing good passing, movement, and control of the game. The boys created several good opportunities and played some excellent football throughout the half. The breakthrough finally came through Mason Rimmer, whose goal gave Airbus a deserved 1-0 lead going into the break.

The second half started poorly as Airbus moved away from their usual style and began playing too many high balls. As discussed with the boys after the match, “that is volleyball, not football.” JAM’s direct and high-ball approach added to this and disrupted the flow of the game. Airbus conceded an equaliser and for a period lost their identity on the ball.

However, the final 10 minutes showed exactly why sticking to the team’s footballing principles is important. Once the boys got the ball down and started playing again, the quality returned immediately. Kai Adams restored the lead after a brilliant wing move and excellent skill from Kian in the build-up. Grayson Stead then sealed the game in style with a world-class long-range strike to make it 3-1.

A very good learning point for the boys once again — trust the process, keep the ball down, and stay true to our identity and way of playing.

Player of the Match

Kian Mills

Kian adapted brilliantly to the CDM role, controlling the centre of the pitch throughout. He dominated tackles, pressed well, and showed great composure and ability to keep the ball under pressure. A top performance.

Under 13's

Airbus 13s 6-2 Halifax town

Sat 9th May our Airbus 13s hosted Halifax playing 11v11 format on our grass pitch.

The first 15 mins was hectic whilst both teams were completing with intensity for possession play and both defensive units were in control.

Against the run of play in the 18th Min a through ball found Lucas Worrall free running at goal chipping the keeper with composure 1-0. Halifax fought back equalising from a low cross deflecting into our goal. Airbus took the lead once again with ball over the top saw Freddie Rawson again chipping the keeper 2-1. Just before the break Halifax equalised with a quality finish.
HT 2-2.

We changed formation to 4-1-4-1 which suited our press and players available and in the 2nd period we took control of the match. Our fitness levels were fantastic playing at pace with goals from Lucas (40th min), Zac (45th min). Zac (47th min) with a 25yd strike and Lucas completing his hat trick (59th min) saw Airbus eventually comfortable taking the win 6-2.

Overall - a fantastic team effort starting to adapt to several 11v11 formations in prep for next season.

Player of the match

Lucas Worrall

Lucas' constant press and bullying of their defensive line, along with his great hat trick on the day.

Under 15

Airbus Under 15s 0 - 4 TNS

A rearranged game for the young wingmakers under floodlights on a Friday evening. TNS arrived with a strong team in quality and numbers.

The Airbus players undetered by their opponents set about with a game plan and they executed it with tenacity and determination. The team went into half time 1 nil down undone not by any brilliance but a catalogue of errors and miss kicks saw TNS poke home a goal 5 mins before half time. A blow after the hard work and some fantastic Airbus principles of play.

At half time the players talked about recognition of TNS methods opportunities to be exploited and areas to defend against their tactics. Using the examples of what the players and done well to create some good chances as the inspiration the players went out for the second half full of energy and anticipation. The game became more open and Airbus created a number of chances but we're unable to be ruthless and finish them.

A substitute of a player had to be reversed a few moments later when Charlie Wild pulled up injured. 10 mins left still seeking an equaliser Hari was taken off following treatment for cramp and in the time waiting to bring him back on TNS scored. The blow went through the team, the team now fatigued with the effort and no subs left the players were unable to stop TNS quick fire goals.

Valiant effort by all the players and would be amiss to single anyone out for praise above the others as they all went above and beyond with work rate effort and sticking to principles that will come good for them. Time to rest recover from injuries, growth spurts and fatigue.

Well done to the whole team.
