Airbus 3-5 Colwyn Bay
On a blustery Sunday morning we welcomed Colwyn Bay to the Hollingsworth Group Stadium for their 3rd game in a week.
After a good performance on Tuesday against Oswestry, the boys were looking forward to the game.
The boys started of very scrappy as they struggled to get a foot hold of the game and it was the visitors that took the lead we a shot from distance which just snuck into the bottom corner past the out stretched hand of Rudie Williams in goal.
With a few changes of positions the U12s started to move the ball and we're rewarded for their hard work as Jude Jones equalised. This gave the boys a boost and it was Ellis Hollins that put the young wingmakers in front after some good work winning the ball up high.
Airbus went into the break 3-1 up and this time a shot from Ellis was poked in on the goal line for Jude Jones' second goal of the game.
With the wind against them in the second half the conditions were hard to deal with but the lads put some good football together. It was the visitors that started the second half on the front foot as they got themselves back into the game with a scrappy goal.
A close offside was given against Jude when he was through 1v1 with the keeper which might of settled some of the Airbus nerves.
Unfortunately it was the visitors that took a lead and they took advantage of the wind in their favour.
The final result was 5-3 to Colwyn Bay, there were some good passages of play by the young wingmakers. Also a big shout-out to under 11 keeper Rudie stepping up to play in goal today
Player of the match
Dylan Rowe
Dylan worked well on and off the ball, creating chances for the team and his desire to get back and win the ball was excellent. He listened to instructions and took the information on board from the coaches

First Half
What a performance in the first half! With the wind at our backs, we started strong and played some fantastic football right from the kick-off. We got off to the perfect start when Will our goalkeeper launched a long high ball downfield the Colwyn Bay goalkeeper misjudged the bounce, and the ball sailed into the net. A memorable first goal of the season for Will to make it 1–0.
We completely dominated the half, playing excellent football and creating chance after chance. Six more well-taken goals followed from different players, and at half-time we were in control at 7–0. A really commanding 35 minutes from the whole team.
Second Half
With the wind now against us, we spoke at half-time about keeping the ball on the floor and staying patient. We started well and continued to press, but Colwyn Bay used the wind to their advantage and pulled one back with a fine individual strike to make it 7–1.
We kept playing our game, created plenty more opportunities, and Max capped a strong performance by getting on the scoresheet again his second of the match to make it 8–1. That’s how it finished.
Player of the Match
Leo Stanton
Outstanding performance! Played both as a number 10 and a number 6, and excelled in both roles. Got himself on the scoresheet too, created chances, and worked tirelessly in attack and defence. Brilliant all round.
Max Williams
Excellent in midfield and up front. Scored two well-taken goals, made some great runs, and was unlucky not to grab a hat-trick. Top work rate and quality on the ball.
Playing in this kind of wind is never easy, but the boys adapted really well especially in the second half when the elements were against us. Great movement, good football, and everyone contributed. An excellent 8–1 win, and a good confidence booster going into next week.

Airbus 5-0 Colwyn Bay
This weekend we hosted Colwyn Bay with the 1-30pm ko.
After a great result last week away at TNS in the National league the lads wanted to get back on track with our league challenge.
We had a plan to play against the strong winds in the first half which after winning the toss we started to undertake.
Airbus kept possession well with simple short passing at speed. We created chances but didn’t have the luck or composure to go ahead. We defended from the front restricting our opponents to limited shots from outside our area. Lads worked so hard and were happy to go into the break not conceding.
HT 0-0
In the 2nd half we changed our plans to press with intensity knowing they would struggle to play out from back in the elements as we did.
In the 39th minute we broke lines though their midfield of which Ted’s lay off to Freddie Rawson saw him fire home 1-0.
It was all Airbus now and our 2nd goal came in the 46th minute where we found an overload down the left side finding Parker running into area finding Ted to fire home with composure 2-0.
Colwyn seemed to lose their discipline at this point with another foul on Lucas 25 yards out saw Ioan fire home 3-0.
In the 63rd minute Peter found the net from the edge of area with power making it 4-0, then Lucas made it 5-0 with a thunderous shot from far after Zach cleverly found him in Space.
A game of two halves with the weather conditions saw Airbus deservedly take the 3 points. All the hard work in first period paid off taking our created chances for a comfortable result.
Player of the week
Alfie Rosedale-Williams
Another great unsung performance in midfield. Alfie’s energy levels, physicality and willingness to win every challenge was exceptional. Alfie is new to our squad and is developing each week along with his growing confidence. Keep up the great work

Airbus 3-1 Colwyn Bay
The lads travelled to Eirias Park on a very windy morning in Colwyn Bay.
We had the 60mph wind behind us in the first half and had total control of the game. Sam Williams tested the hands of the opposition keeper with a fine strike and Cameron Hughes was also foiled as the keeper got down well to deny him.
However, yet again an unfortunate individual error at the back caused us to be 0-1 down which was totally against the run of play.
We thankfully rallied and got ourselves level when Harry Delap assisted Ethan Jones after a fine team move down the right hand side of the pitch, which involved numerous players.
It became 2-1 in our favour when the lively Cameron Hughes finished excellently with his left foot across the keeper after pouncing on a loose ball. It really was a good finish and we were delighted for him.
2-1 @ half time with 40 minutes against 11 men and 60mph winds.
In the 2nd half Shay Moroney made a couple of fine saves in goal, the defence was excellent with body on the line defensive actions from Jarrod Harris, Levi Asamoah, Charlie Wild & Charlie Smith.
It was extremely difficult to get the ball across the half way line due to the conditions, but in the latter stages we earned a corner where Elias Owolobi played in an exquisite cross for Aiden Font to head into the roof of the net.
The game ended 3-1 to the young wingmakers.
Really happy for the lads to gain the victory, they kept their discipline, stayed emotionally connected to the game and got their rewards.
A special mention to the defenders today who worked hard to defend the box in training on Thursday and kept a 2nd half clean sheet in extremely difficult conditions - which shows fantastic development
Player of the week
Jarrod Harris
Excellent 2nd half from Jarrod who was tough in the tackle, played detailed passes forward & took on the weeks defensive detail to the letter - well done.

Plenty of positives as young Wingmakers stand up to experienced opposition
Airbus Under 19s produced a spirited display against an older, experienced Colwyn Bay squad, strengthened by two first-team players.
The young Wingmakers showed character and belief throughout, holding their own and causing the hosts problems. There was plenty of positives as the lads competed against a side with greater senior experience.
Two second-half goals proved decisive, with the key learning coming from our reactions to the second phase of play. Following a cross and another attacking passage, Airbus needed to react quicker and compete more strongly when the initial danger remained alive.
Those moments ultimately made the difference, but they should not overshadow the effort and positive passages from this young group. This was a valuable test, with clear lessons to take into the coming weeks and plenty to build on.
Player of the Week
Erin Levenov
Erin delivered a very mature performance, impressing both on and off the ball. His contribution reflected the excellent standards he has shown over recent weeks, and this recognition is thoroughly deserved.
Well done, Erin, and keep working hard
