Following a great win against Holywell Town FC on Friday, Airbus head into another important game on Easter Monday as they look to book a place in the WBS Cup final as they take on JD Cymru South side Afan Lido
The WingMakers confirmed their spot in the semi finals after a 3-1 win against Newtown at the Hollingsworth Group Stadium. Airbus fell behind just before half time when Jamie Hyne put the visitors ahead with a great goal. Jordan Evans pulled one back in injury time of the first half as they headed into half time level.
Airbus put themselves in the lead as Danny Warren finished with a volley from an unbelievable pass from Jordan Evans. Jake Roberts finished the tie off as he replaced Kaiden Cooke in the game with 15 minutes remaining. Roberts first interaction was an excellent one. A long ball from Kieran Evans was sent up the pitch and Roberts did well to get on the end off the pass as he took with his first touch to lob the keeper.
Afan Lido booked their place in the semi-final with a 4-2 win over their fellow JD Cymru South side Newport City. Afan took the lead just after the half hour mark as Brandon Roberts converted a Liam Griffiths pass. 5 minutes before half time, Newport City equalised through Samuel Johnson as both teams headed into the half time break a goal apiece.
The visitors took another early lead in the second half as Liam Griffiths got himself on the scoresheet after assisting for the opening goal. Matthew Richards made it 3-1 to Afan Lido just before the hour to give them a bit of breathing space.
Lathan Garrett pulled one back for Newport City with 20 minutes of the game remaining and to make a nervy end to the game, but that wasn’t to be as Liam Griffiths got his second of the game as he made it 4-2, two minutes later to give Afan Lido enough to progress into the semi-finals.
We look to book a place in the Final to defend out title and we need all your support on Easter Monday!
