Airbus U8s – Flint Town (H) & Sheffield United & Shrewsbury Town (A)
Our U8 WingMakers welcomed Flint to the Hollingsworth Stadium this Saturday morning.
After a slightly timid start Airbus found themselves constantly creating chances by dominating 1v1 and playing at an extremely high intensity throughout the game.
Our u8s were constantly rewarded with hard work and intense pressing winning the ball back in high areas and showing good technical quality to finish chances clinically.
Player of the week goes to Ollie for his incredible creativity and ability to escape pressure easily.
As well as his disciplined reactions when he and his teammates were dispossessed, well done Ollie.
Airbus Academy U8’s showcased incredible resilience and determination in their games. Despite a tough start with a defeat to Sheffield United, they demonstrated remarkable growth and learning throughout the day.
Their second game saw a thrilling victory over Shrewsbury, highlighting their attacking prowess and never-give-up attitude. The team’s ability to bounce back after a challenging opening game is a testament to their spirit and teamwork.
In the third match, Airbus Academy U8’s capped off their day with an impressive win against Sheffield United. This victory showed their capacity to adapt, learn from their mistakes, and perform under pressure. The improvement they displayed in a short time frame is commendable and reflects the hard work of the players and coaching staff.
These results underline that beyond the scoreboard, the team is building a solid foundation for the future. Well done, Airbus Academy U8’s!
Players of the day - Lucas Jones made some great saves and some excellent distribution.
Isaac Manley worked very hard in and out of possession on the wing and scored goals up front.
Well done boys
Airbus U9s – Flint Town (H)
U9’s hosted Flint on Saturday on a warm sunny morning. Airbus were keen to perform well after the last game versus Flint earlier on in the season. We started slow conceded earlier on both pitches. However as the game went on the lads settled and scored some outstanding goals. Airbus started to play quicker and more direct which made it difficult for the opposition to deal with. Coming off the pitch the lads were happy with the performance and result. Well done lads.
Players of the Week - Harvey Black - Harvey has recently signed for Airbus after a successful trial and has settled into the team straight away. His work rate was outstanding on Saturday, working hard on and off the ball and making it difficult for the opposition. He also scored some outstanding goals in both matches. Well done Harvey, keep up the good work.
Louie Clark - Louie has had an excellent week this week in both training and in the game. Louie lead by example Saturday with him playing multiple positions and dominating with the ball wherever he played. He also scored a couple of great goals and provided assists for his teammates. Well done Louie.
Airbus U10s – Flint Town (H)
Yet again another positive week for the Airbus U10s squad.
Playing a physical Flint Town side gave us a different type of opposition this week. The aim this week was again to press from the front and keep possession of the ball for longer periods of time.
The first game saw us do both of these in abundance. Winning the ball high up the pitch through the energy of Tristan and Huddy and the relentlessness of Jude in midfield. Guilty of taking too many touches which probably stopped us from having the ball more than we should have. A great game nonetheless with some fantastic goals, pick of the bunch coming from Jack Davies on his return from injury with a 20 yard bullet into the bottom corner.
Second game was noticeably more difficult so the boys were taken back in the first quarter, going behind early doors. However, a few tweaks at half time allowed us to keep possession of the ball a lot better and managing to come from 4-1 down to bring it back level to 4-4. Neither team could go on to find a winner but the character shown by the lads to come back was superb!
Man of the Match went to Hudson for his decision making throughout both games. Moved the ball when it need to, weight of pass was bang on and his work rate off the ball led to him grabbing a couple of goals too!
Airbus U11s – Flint Town (H)
U11’s hosted Flint on Saturday in a 9v9 format to start preparing for next season. After a slow start the lads got into the game and started moving the ball around very well. The topic was progressive possession in training and the lads implemented that brilliantly at times. Playing out from the back was something we focused on and the signs of improvement at this was really positive. It was a good morning of football for the 11’s with some brilliant goals scored and everyone enjoying their football.
Man of the Match – Tyler Jones, Ty dominated the midfielder. His passing range and skills was brilliant and he drove the ball forward and also made himself available when in possession of the ball. He also scored the goal of the match which was an unbelievable strike. Well done !!
Airbus U12s – Flint Town (H)
Our Airbus 12s hosted flint on Sunday at the Hollingsworth Stadium.
The first 35 mins was a close encounter with Airbus playing at pace successfully switching play Vs a physical opposition going into half time 1-1.
Within the 2nd period we struggled to keep possession at times and opposition took there chances . Our Airbus lads showed character and kept creating chances but lacked the detail & ruthlessness in the final third which led to an unfair 6-2 loss.
Man of the match is Mynor. His defending throughout the match was immense always looking to play at pace and managed the physicality of the opposition. Also gave 100% in training this past week.
Airbus U13s – Flint Town (H)
It’s always encouraging to see progress, even in challenging matches. Holding the league leaders to a 0-0 draw in the first half is a testament to the team’s hard work, organization, and determination. It’s natural for substitutions and adjustments in the second half to bring some disruption, but these moments offer great learning opportunities for both players and coaches.
Mistakes are part of football, especially at the development level, and it’s through these moments that players grow and improve. The key takeaway here is the improvement from the last encounter with this team. It’s clear that the U13s are making strides in the right direction, which is the most important aspect at this stage.
Focus on building on the positives from this performance, and the team will only get stronger. Well done to the players and for the effort and progress!
Man of the match - Macsen baker, worked tirelessly both in and out of possession and lead by example, positive communication throughout.
Airbus U14s – Flint Town (H)
Airbus U14’s welcomed Flint Town to the Hollingsworth looking to build on last weeks success on the road. The game went pretty much as we expected with Flint sitting in a low block allowing us to have the ball around the defensive-middle third and putting the onus on us to find a way to break them down.
On a week where switching play was the focus at training, we knew most of our build up would start from the middle third and for that reason we asked our wing backs to be really brave and get in and around the final third in wide areas for when we needed to change the point of attack quickly.
In truth it didn’t quite go to plan to begin with and we couldn’t quite find the right detail in key areas to break them down. We did however take the lead when Charlie Smith’s long range effort wasn’t held by the keeper and went in for his second goal of the campaign.
5 minutes later and we didn’t defend our box adequately with Flint finishing well low into the corner to make it 1-1.
Going into half time we spoke around improving the smaller detail with the ball individually, to enable us to reach our team objectives more efficiently and felt that would be enough to start seeing our efforts rewarded in the second half.
It was Flint that got the next goal though and again they finished into the bottom corner to lead Airbus 2-1. There was no panic and we started to play to our strengths moving the ball between the lines in the gaps that had started to open up in Flint’s shape. Lucas Braisdell reacted quickest to a save from the Flint keeper to tap in from close range and level the score on 50’.
A few moments later and Airbus were threatening again with Harry Williams skilfully beating his man in the box drawing a foul and converting the penalty he’d won, emphatically into the right side netting.
Airbus had all the momentum now and with our opposition getting tired, Alfie Edwards found a chance from long distance to get the ball out of his feet and strike superbly up and over the keeper into the top corner to put Airbus 4-2 up.
Airbus managed the remaining ten minutes professionally to see out the win and the players can be pleased with their efforts of not panicking and sticking to our objectives, getting their just rewards later in the game.
Man of the match – Lucas Braisdell, find us a player that works harder than Lucas! Every single time he steps on the pitch he plays like its his last, his training intensity never changes and because of that his performances on match day are always of the highest level. Today was no different he was asked to play in and around the final third as a wing back, but when we lost the ball he was putting in massive sprints to get back in and support his team mates. He has one of the best attitudes and work ethic we have seen this season and urge him to keep up the good work.
Airbus U15s – Flint Town (A)
Airbus travelled up to Flint for an early morning kick off
Airbus started the better of the two teams and after settling down took control of the game 27’ Nataniel Rakowiecki scores assisted by Dylan Cusato. Then shortly after on the 31’ Jake Pendlebury slotted home after a good phase of play assisted by Max Murray HT 2-0 Airbus
Second half started a little mixed. The opposition got an equaliser quite early in the start of the second half. A very scrappy second half unfortunately Airbus were unable to match the physical Flint team. Airbus created a few chances but unable to put the game out of reach. Flint on then80’ score an equaliser from the second phase of a corner to draw the game level. FT 2-2
Player of the week goes to Evan Roberts. Evan has instrumental in the 15’s squad during this season. He trains with a high intensity bringing the best out of the players around him and plays his matches with a certain quality and calmness years above his time. Fantastic Evan
Airbus U16s – Flint Town (A)
The U16 travelled to play Flint Town Utd. The lads started well and took the game to our opponents with Harrison Mills Morgan and Charlie Jones going close.
Flint then scored an excellent goal from a fine finish and a couple of lapses of concentration saw them take 2 more chances before the break.
The 2nd half was more of the same as Flint were awarded 2 penalties and scored a 6th which made it a difficult day for the young WingMakers although a fine bit of play saw Stanley Edwards go close in the final stages of the game.
Player of the week: Dylan Cusato – Stepped up at late notice after playing for the U15s and did exceptionally well in the No 10 position. Looked to get on the ball and his quick feet caused Flint problems at times.
Airbus U19s – Flint Town (A)
Airbus travelled up the road to the Essity Stadium to play Flint 19’s on a chilly Sunday evening
The first half started a little erratic but Airbus took control of the game quite early on. Creating early chances we could not take the lead, going close several times in the early moments of the game. This came to bite us back when the hosts counter attacked and took the lead on 12’. Airbus didn’t let it affect their attitude and kept knocking on the door. Creating chance after chance. Eventually on 31’ Franek Sadczuk scores assisted by Ieuan Jones Wellstead. HT 1-1
Second half started the same Airbus in good control however Flint took the lead again from the second phase of a corner on 51’
Again showing strong character Airbus undeterred kept creating chances and on 62’ Ieuan Jones Wellstead assisted by Franek Sadczuk bringing the game level. With the wind in their sails Airbus 5’ later Dan Semple popped up assisted by Franek Sadczuk. Minute 73 Dan Semple scores a second assisted by Hugh Holland and finally new signing Olly Blaney finishds the scoring assisted by Franek Sadczuk. Final score 5-2 Airbus
Player of the week goes to Franek Sadczuk. Franek is enjoying a good spell currently both training and in games. He’s really stepped up in recent months and is starting to unlock new potential. Keep it up mate
Airbus Reserves – Ruthin Town (H)
Airbus Reserves welcomed Ruthin to the Hollingsworth Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Airbus dominated possession in the early stages but failed to create many clear opportunities to score. Towards the end of the first half the ever impressive Hugh Holland broke quickly from his own box to the edge of the oppositions box and smashed a right footed shot into the bottom corner. In added time Ben Williams expertly finished from a great cross from Dan Collins.
In the second half the opposition scored after Airbus took too many touches and were robbed of the ball. Airbus hit back immediately through Jake Jones whose cross/shot evaded the goalkeeper.
The remainder of the half was dominated by Airbus but they could not finish off the plethora of chances they created.
3 points but much to improve upon.
Player of the week goes to Liam Jones. Liam gives his all for 90mins and always listens to instructions given by his coaches. He has shown recently that he has the potential to play senior football. Well done Liam
Airbus U17s Girls – Llandudno (A)
It was a sunny day on the Welsh coast .Very hot at the Goodwins stadium in Llandudno.
Both teams started brightly with chances at both ends. The hosts managed to break the deadlock with a sweet finish from the edge of the box. The visitors were in control but couldn’t find a way through and even had a shot blasted over the bar just before the break .
The U17’s captain returning from injury came on at half time and the first 10 minutes of the second half seen the visitors miss 3 opportunities to equalise, and then hosts broke away and doubled there lead.
That left Airbus having to chase the game leaving exposed areas which the hosts continuously capitalised on but were finding it difficult to break down the Airbus defence and even when they did, they couldn’t beat the visitors keeper. The left winger of the hosts then picked up the ball in her own half beat the Airbus right back outpaced the centre half and cut back in and drove the ball past the keeper just as she managed to get a hand to it.
Airbus kept pushing and even created another clear opportunity but missed the target. Llandudno created and broke away to get another.
The 4-0 score line doesn’t tell the story of how close a game this was . But for Llandudno being more clinical in front of goal, both teams were well matched today .
Player of the week - Ellie V
Some great saves today especially in the second half to keep us in the game as we were pushing for goals.
