Airbus U8s – FAW Festival (N) & Leeds United, Stoke City & Mansfield Town (A)
Airbus Academy U8’s took part in an intense 6v6 tournament at Leeds United, playing three 30-minute matches, showcasing determination and skill in each game. Despite facing strong opposition, the team displayed resilience, with standout performances from Oliver Loftus and Austin Wardle, who were both named Players of the Day.

In the opening match, Airbus Academy U8’s faced tough competition but remained steady, securing a well-fought draw. The team showed defensive organization and offensive flair, but despite a few close chances, neither side managed to get the win .The first game was a good start, giving the players momentum going into the next round.

The second game saw a more aggressive and attacking performance from Airbus Academy u8’s With confidence built from the first match, they were clinical in front of goal, and better in defence. Securing a well-deserved win. The players showed excellent teamwork, with quick passing and smart runs off the ball, putting the opposition under constant pressure.

The final game was a more open contest with tired legs coming into play and despite Airbus Academy 8’s best efforts, they suffered a narrow defeat. The team showed great heart, pushing forward in the dying minutes in search of an equalizer, but the opposition held firm with the help of the woodwork and some great saves from the Leeds keeper A few moments of miscommunication in defence allowed the opposition to capitalize on a key opportunity, which ultimately decided the match.

Players of the Day:
Oliver Loftus – His tireless work ethic and excellent positioning were vital in both defence and attack.
Austin Wardle – A standout performance in defence , through balls helping create chances and controlling the pace of the game.

Airbus Academy u8’s demonstrated resilience and skill throughout the three matches, adapting to the challenges posed by each opponent. Despite a narrow loss in the final game, the team’s spirit remained strong, and they left the tournament with valuable experience. Oliver Loftus and Austin Wardle were instrumental in their teams success, making significant contributions across all three games.
Well done boys ✈️⚽️??

The 8’s made the very early long trip to Newtown to take part in the FAW festival on Saturday morning.

Some excellent performances in the opening round of games meant dominant victories over the FAW girls and TNS.

An under par game against flint ended in defeat then 3 draws against Newtown, Connahs Quay and Caernarfon showed moments of real quality but some small lapses in concentration were capitalised on by the opposition.

On the whole they showed an excellent attitude and individually they’ll take moments of games away to help improve.

Riley was voted player of the day by his teammates.

Airbus U9s – FAW Festival (N)
The u9 WingMakers had a long journey to Newtown for the National Academi festival this weekend.

Our u9s started off slowly with quality on the ball but lacked intensity, however they were able to grow into the tournament leading to some great performances and results.

Our u9s character was constantly tested this Saturday but it was impressive to see players bouncing back after set backs showing great desire and perseverance.

MOTM went to Ronnie Cieslewicz due to his intensity and speed with the ball and his leadership throughout the tournament encouraging the team to play with his desire, well done Ronnie.

Airbus U10s – FAW Festival (N)
Airbus took the long journey down Newtown for the third time this season. With current form we had high expectations for this FAW Festival, however, it wasn’t to be our day.

We struggled to build any momentum in the opening two games and looked panicked on the ball and in front of goal. We worked hard off the ball but were failing to put the brakes on when engaging in tackles which made it easier for the opposition to skip past with a drop of the shoulder.

The middle section of games were a lot better and we looked like the team of the past 3 months. Still lacking a bit of composure in front of goal.

We ended the day how we began, struggling to find any rhythm in our play. Unfortunately, it wasn’t to be our day, the tournament style is very different to a single fixture and can take some adapting to.

MoM for the day was Iestyn. His work rate and determination sets the standards high across the board. Physically couldn’t give any more and would run through a brick wall for the lads!
We go again for our final fixture on the season on Saturday ?✈️

Airbus U11s – FAW Festival (N)
U11’s went to the Newtown FAW festival on Saturday. An overall good day of football with all the lads getting a good amount of minutes and some great football played at times.

A few positive results against really good opposition and also a few things to focus on in training going forward. Well done U11’s

MOM – Archie Davies, brilliant performances from Archie in all the games no matter what position he was. He also scored a brilliant solo effort which was my goal of the day. Well done Archie.

Airbus U12s – TNS (H)
Airbus hosted the u12s league champions TNS this Sunday morning at the Hollingsworth stadium.

The first half was a close encounter with each team struggling to make clear chances hence going into the break at 0-0.

In the 2nd period Airbus lacked the intensity levels and after a dubious free kick decision TNS took the Lead. Airbus pressed for the equaliser but lacked energy and poor decision making in the final third led to no goals on the day. As we went 2 at the back to press further we got caught out a number of times leading to an undeserved 4-0 defeat.

Man of the Match - Oliver Moore
Lone striker for majority of his minutes pressed when could and gave 100% effort throughout & looked a threat when in possession.

Airbus U14s – TNS (H)
The Under 14’s welcomed TNS to the Hollingsworth. Airbus, with a depleted squad approached the game as we always would, looking to make a positive impact on the game.

It was TNS who took the lead when we lost some balance at the back and they were able to finish into the corner of the net.

A short time later defending a corner we cleared well but on the second phase an attempted clearance found its way into the back of the net and we went in to half time 2-0 down.

An adjustment in shape and roles and we started to impact the game, Piotr Wlodarczyk found the space to slot home and get us back in the game at 2-1.

Unfortunately from there we made too many individual mistakes, conceding free kicks in dangerous areas and losing the ball in midfield allowed TNS to take the game well away from us.

Player of the week – Charlie Wild
Despite a difficult game for the squad here, Charlie remained positive throughout and his individual battles were mostly successful for him whilst being effective in the phases of play he was involved in. He has also shown a good attitude at training of late. Keep it up Charl

Airbus U16s – Newtown (A)
The U16 travelled away to Newtown and were on the back foot straight away with a number of errors & lack of intensity caused the opposition to score a number of goals against us. We should have scored a couple ourselves but failed to take our chances.

The 2nd half was much better as we changed shape. We controlled the game for large moments, showed good quality & the required intensity. We were unlucky to have a goal disallowed. We limited our opponents to have chances only from distance and we should have taken a few ourselves.

The team today consisted of 5 x U15 players who stepped up and did well against a physical challenge.

Player of the week: Caiden Baker-Williams (U15) – A very solid performance from Caiden. He played well in all areas when asked and gained confidence throughout the fixture. In the 2nd half he put in a faultless performance & it is exciting to see how well he is developing. Well done Caid.

Airbus U19s – Newtown (A)
Airbus travelled down to Newtown on a beautiful sunny day at Latham Park
First half started and Airbus started the stronger team. Controlling lots of key moments of the game and creating early chances. On top we always discuss taking advantage which we were able to do today and on 19’ Dan Semple set Archie Floate to score the opening goal of the game. Newtown presented some problems but Airbus were equal to them. HT 1-0 Airbus

Second half started the same as Airbus controlled large portions of the game which was rewarded on 66’ as Dan Semple scored a well worked team goal assisted by Josh Edwards. The last 20’ of the game Airbus switched off and caught napping and found themselves 2-2 on 89’. With literally the last kick of the game another well worked team move saw Iuean Jones Wellstead delivered a deadly cross for Dan Semple to head home the winner. FT 3-2 Airbus

Player of the week goes to Dan Semple. Dan is a huge character around the group. Dan adds to the culture with his sense of humour and character. Dan works hard and always strives to improve. Dan had an excellent second half at Newtown taking detail well and scoring two and assisting one. Well done Semp

Airbus Reserves – Llay Miners Welfare FC (A)
The Reserves travelled to Llay Saturday morning.

Playing up the hill in the first half the young WingMakers adapted to the pitch conditions and played well without really creating any clear cut chances.

Playing down the hill in the 2nd half Airbus dominated possession and created plenty of chances without scoring. Airbus eventually did score via an excellent delivery from Liam Jones. Airbus dominated the possession and continued to look dangerous but conceded whilst trying to play out from the back. Llay won a corner soon after and the resulting delivery went straight into the goal. It was one way traffic from then on in but Airbus could not convert any of the chances created. A loss but a great learning experience.

Player of the week goes to Ben Williams. Ben has great potential and consistently plays well.
