Saturday saw Airbus travel to Denbigh Town Reserves

The game started quickly in wet heavy conditions at the Central Park Stadium

Airbus found it hard to play on the heavy pitch and Denbigh were fully fuelled for a big game for their league run. Taking a while to get in to the game Airbus couldn’t make anything stick.

Denbigh took advantage with a cross we did not deal with for a simple tap in at the back post on the 5’. Airbus then took the majority of the half to get a foot hold in the game, not really challenging in the final third however Robbie Jones managed to calmly chip the keeper assisted by Cam Meredith on 17’ first half 1-1.
Ollie Roberts managed to save a dubious penalty decision late on the first half

Second half Airbus started the brighter team threatened a few times in behind and kept the ball much better. Against the run of play Denbigh break away and scored on 55’.

Airbus tried to keep playing, however the conditions and pitch seemed too much for them to handle today. Having no answers to the Denbigh deep block the Airbus players continued to be frustrated. Game finished 2-1 Denbigh

Player of the week goes to the skipper Will Gordon. Will’s performance week in week out is always top draw. He trains with the first team and has made plenty of appearances for them too. It’s easy to over look the skipper as his standards are very high every time he steps on the pitch but today he shown great leadership in the face of adversity and put a huge shift in on a very heavy pitch. One of the nicest guys you’ll meet off the pitch and a role model on it. He is a huge asset to the squad. Well done Will Gordon
