Young defender gets his reward for his performances last season

Josh, joined Airbus at the young age of 11 where he joined our Academy set-up. He went on to captain his side at Under 15s and Under 16s.

He became a consistent figure with the PDP section and made several appearances in the Cymru Premier development league and the FAW Reserve League North.

After fantastic performances, he was included in the training and squads for the first team through Pre-Season (2023/24).

Josh went on to make his first team debut in the Nathaniel MG Cup against Mold Alexandra, where Airbus ran out winners.

His JD Cymru North debut came on the 23rd August against Flint Mountain at the Hollingsworth Group Stadium.

Stevenson bagged his first senior goal in an impressive 7-1 win away at Bangor in January and his most recent goal come in the NEWFA Cup final when he headed Airbus into a 2-0 lead, on their way to being crowned winners.

Josh went on to make 18 JD Cymru North league appearances, where his consistency in defence brought him many man of the match nominations.

Mark Allen expressed his thoughts on Josh and his reward of his first contract for the club, “Delighted for Josh and his family signing his first contract with Airbus. It is testament to his hard work and dedication over the years in our academy that he has deserved this. When he played last year, he made a real contribution with some excellent performances and key goals. He has real potential to lead on and off the pitch and I am looking forward to that continuing this year.

It shows other players that there is a pathway through to the first team and Josh has followed a handful of others who have not just played but have been a regular starter. This is testament to the hard work of Rich Custato and the academy coaches in not just the U19’s, but you other age groups too”
