Brilliant Second Half Performance, Provides Airbus With A Win In Their Opening Game

A good week of training led to a good feeling going into the first game of the season.

Our starting XI, included 5 new signings (Keighan Jones, Kieran Evans, Jordan Evans, Kristian Platt and Craig Lindfield) and all 5 had an impact.

Patience in possession is how Airbus started by keeping the ball and taking the opportunities when they arose.

After a patience start, the game became sloppy, as Airbus gave away a couple of silly free kicks in dangerous areas. George Peers was lucky to escape an early booking.

Fifteen minutes until half time and the visitors had their first chance of the half with a tame shot that resulted in a comfortable save for Jones.

Just before half time, Airbus created their first clear cut chance. Tomassen carried the ball into the Guilsfield half, where he found Eyre with a brilliant pass inside the full back and the centre half. Eyre with a left foot cross into the box, resulted in Lindfield getting the slightest touch towards goal, but seen his effort sail just wide.

Airbus started the second half energized and it didn't take long for Airbus to get their reward.

Airbus won a free kick on the right side of the pitch just outside the box. Jordan Evans delivered a quality free kick with a little help from the windy conditions to see George Peers rise above the Guilsfield defence to head the ball in back of the net for games opening goal.

Just after the hour mark, a long ball from the Guilsfield goalkeeper Robbie Williams, caught the Airbus defence out, as Andrew Evans managed to get in behind the to find him 1v1 with Airbus goalkeeper Jones. A good starting position by Jones allowed him to make a great block to bring the attack to an end.

Six minutes after Guilfield's chance, Tyler McManus with great work down the right resulted in a corner. Another great delivery from Jordan Evans, this time from corner was headed on by McManus to land at Craig Lindfield's feet for a brilliant right footed shot in the bottom right corner.

Fresh Legs were introduce on 80 minutes, where Brad Knight replaced George Peers in the front 3.

Three minutes later, Airbus wrapped up the three points with a goal from another set piece. A quality free kick once again from Jordan Evans delivered into the box. Guilsfield were first to the ball but the clearance this time fell to Jake Eyre who finished with a powerful left foot volley which left the Guilsfield keeper with no chance.

Overall a first half of little chances created and a brilliant second half performance.

A good to start to the season for Airbus and a good stepping stone to build on. We look forward to starting our journey in the Nathaniel MG Cup where we make the trip to Colwyn Bay next Saturday!
