On a sunny Friday evening, Airbus welcomed Cardiff Met to the Hollingsworth for the WingMakers' first home game of the season and after a good opening day for both clubs, it hoped to be a good game.

Mark Allen named the same team that started at Haverfordwest the previous weekend and had done so well to take a 1-0 win home with them. There were returns to the squad for Keighan Jones and Oli Lanceley.

Airbus got us underway for the evening as they were in unfamiliar terriority as they were kicking towards the runway in the first half. Cardiff started the brighter of the teams and Airbus were nearly punished for sloppy play on 8 minutes. A loose pass was picked up by Ryan Reynolds, which he saw Louie Fallon off his line and the Cardiff No.6 tried a lob from just outside the box, but Fallon was able to get back and collect.

13 minutes in, Airbus had a great chance to take the lead. A ball over the top by Joe Palmer was perfectly weighted as he picked out a great run by George Peers, and the No.11 snatched at his chance and dragged his effort wide. The game was becoming more steady and Fumoa Mwandwe was causing problems down the left as he managed to push the ball past Tyler McManus to get in a crossing position, but he over hit his delivery. A minute later it was Kaiden Cooke who was allowed space to run into and as he cut inside his shot was at Arron Davies.

On 22 minutes, Cardiff Met took the lead. Josh Stevenson was held off by Jasper Payne from a lofted ball, as Payne played it into the path of Reynolds on the edge of the area and his thunderbolt shot was struck well to beat Fallon in the Airbus goal.

As we approached the half hour mark, Cardiff were awarded a free kick and the set piece was lifted into the Airbus box and helped on by Toby Raison before Jasper Payne reacted quicker than anybody to try and help the ball on towards goal unmarked and his headed effort was wide of the post.

Other than conceding, Airbus competed really well against the visitors, as there was some great pressure by Sean Moscrop to eventually win the ball, which released Mason Blackwell-Jones down the left and his cross was collected comfortably by Davies to release the pressure.

It was Airbus to have the final chance of the first half as there was some link up play involving Jordan Evans and he released Blackwell-Jones down the left and he saw his shot parried by Davies.

With no stoppages in the first half, the referee brought time on the first half which was very evenly competed but it was Cardiff with the only goal of the half.

The visitors got us under way for the second half as the sun was setting in the distance and it was Airbus that started the brighter of the two teams, as two minutes into the second half there was a great run down the left by Kaiden Cooke which brought a save from Davies and his strong hand just puts it off the toe of Joe Palmer for a tap in at the back post.

55' and Sam Jones afforded himself some space just outside the penalty area and as he was found he deided to take the shot on, and his effort was wide of the post. Three minutes late Airbus were awarded a free kick in a dangerous position to put the ball into the box, but Vice-Captain Jordan Evans decided to try his luck and it was just collected by Davies.

Kaiden Cooke was having a lot of the ball in the early encounters of the second half and he brought another save from Davies as the youngster tried to catch him out at his near post. Cardiff always looked threatening on the break and it was Sam Jones found in space down the right, as he only had Payne to aim for but he didn't quite get enough on the pass to trouble the Airbus defence.

On 71' a corner from Jordan Evans was cleared to the edge of the penalty area to Blackwell-Jones in space as he took the shot on, which was blocked by the Cardiff Met defender but it fell to Nath Williams on the right of the box who hit the ball on the volley into the ground towards goal and Davies pushed the ball away to deny Airbus once again.

A free kick was awarded 6 minutes later as Kaiden Cooke was taking down off the ball, which was looked at for a possible red card by VAR. The Airbus No.9 lofted the free kick into the back post and Peers met the ball and stabbed it wide, but his blushes were saved as the officials flag went up for offside.

Sean Moscrop had a brilliant evening in midfield and with 10 minutes remaining of the 90, he did well to wriggle through a few attempted tackles as he lay the ball into Cooke, who's shot was straight at Davies.

Airbus decided to throw caution to the wind and introduce two strikers to the game with Oli Lanceley and Jake Roberts replacing Sean Moscrop and George Peers, with James Hughes also entering the fold for Mason Blackwell-Jones to find that equaliser.

As we entered the 89th minute, Cardiff Met had a second. Reynolds delivered a free kick into the Airbus box where Jones was able to get his head on it which looked to be going wide as Nath Williams shielded the ball. Mwandwe did well to keep the ball in and laid the ball into Wildig and his shot was tapped in from close range by Payne to secure the three points for the visitors.

After four minutes of extra time added, the referee blew time on the game, as Cardiff met returned back to the capital with three points but Airbus will be disappointed as they matched the visitors, but were just not clinical in front of goal.
