Saturday, we welcomed local Flintshire rivals Mold Alex to a sunny Hollingsworth Stadium.
There was one change to the starting line-up which started against Penryhncoch, with Joe Palmer returning for the suspended George Peers.
Mold Alex got us underway in the first half with the sun shining over the Airfield on a lovely spring day.
The first chance come on 7 minutes, when ball in by the visiting James Davies was met by Owen Cordiner with a header but his effort was over.
14 minutes, Kieran Evans found himself a bit of space to run into down the left, but his final attempt was over the crossbar.
Three minutes later, Airbus had a 1-0 lead. A long ball was not dealt with by the visitors with Michael Crossley failing to collect the ball, Cooke was the quickest of the two and he nipped in to take the ball past the Mold ‘keeper and pass the ball into an empty net.
Emmanuel Lawal had a great opportunity for an equaliser on 21’ when he found some space on the right of the penalty area, but his shot was saved by Keighan Jones with his feet.
Airbus were moving the ball really well and there was some great link up between Jordan Evans and Danny Warren which set Cooke, but his shot was just wide.
Palmer lifted a brilliant ball into Mold Alex’s box which Tyler McManus managed to get his head to, and his touch was a little heavy and the ball got away from him.
43 minutes, Mold had an excellent chance as Noah Sumner found himself 1V1 with Jones, which the Airbus ‘keeper did well to block. The ball fell back into the path of Mold and this time Kieran Evans was in the right position to clear the ball off the line.
Before 1 minute of injury time was added, Airbus had a great chance through Cooke. The Airbus No.12 took a shot early, which was saved by Crossley and Warren’s pull back was deflected for a corner.
This was the last action of the half as the half time whistle was blown.
Mold were out early from half time and eventually got us underway.
7 minutes into the second half, Airbus created the first chance of the half with a Jordan Evans shot from range testing Crossley but it was comfortable for the ‘keeper.
Evans found himself in a similar position a minute later, where this time his shot had a lot more power, but it come crashing of the post and to safety.
57 minutes James Davies found himself through 1v1 with ‘keeper Crossley which he was able to get enough on after a heavy touch from the Airbus No.20.
Airbus were trying their luck from long range and Joe Palmer got in on the act with a strike that forced Crossley into save which he parried for a corner.
From the resulting corner, Josh Stevenson rose higher than everyone else and directed a header towards goal, but Crossley saved from the young defender.
Stevenson was involved again 5 minutes later when he read a ball from the Mold midfielder to intercept and carry the ball forward and found a searching pass which set Cooke. Cooke’s shot didn’t have the direction and was over the crossbar.
It was all Airbus in the second half, and they were having a lot of chances to increase the scoreline, but it just wouldn’t go in. Jordan Evans delivered an excellent corner, and Palmer met it with a towering header, and it come of the crossbar.
Airbus introduced fresh legs up front on 72 minutes with Oli Lanceley and Sam Baker replacing Danny Warren and James Davies.
Mold had an equalising goal from their first real chance of the second half. The visitors won a corner from a blocked shot, which Joshua Atkin curled in to find the oncoming Luca Gregson and he directed a well-placed header into the top corner of the net.
Mold had a half chance on 86 minutes when the ball fell to the feet of Cordiner, but the Mold No.9 didn’t quite connect with the ball and it was an easy save for Jones.
There was 5 minutes injury time added but Airbus were unable to find the winner and they had to settle for a point.
