A goal from Jordan Evans and George Peers secure the three points for the WingMakers

After disappointing result last Friday against Cardiff Met, Airbus were looking to get back on track as they welcomed Ammanford to the Hollingsworth Group Stadium. The visitors had a good result in match day as they come back from two goals down to earn draw against Colwyn Bay.

On a warm summers evening, there was one change to the starting XI with Ieuan Jones-Wellstead replacing the absent Kaiden Cooke and there was also a place on the bench for new signing Oli Calland.

Before Ammanford got us under way in the first half their was a minute for remembrance for Airbus fan Reg Barton.

The opening exchanges were quite balanced but Airbus produced some great link up play down the left between Mason Blackwell-Jones and Sean Moscrop. Moscrop's through ball released Blackwell-Jones to pull the ball back to Peers who's shot was wide but the officials flag saved the Airbus strikers' blushes!

Airbus were the team on top and it was a good ball by Ieuan Jones-Wellstead found George Peers on the left of the penalty area and his first shot was saved by Luke Martin and his follow-up shot hit the side netting.

The hosts were beginning to click and some tidy play between, Nath Williams, Joe Palmer and Blackwell-Jones allowed Airbus to work it from the back into an attack and it was Jones-Wellstead who got the final shot as he was allowed to turn in the box and get his shot off which was straight at Martin.

Two minutes later, Jordan Evans was given space to cross a really good delivery into the box and it nearly caught Martin out in the Ammanford goal as he tipped the ball over the bar.

Moscrop's skills and quick feet allowed him to wriggle free and slip a ball into space behind the Ammanford defence for Blackwell-Jones and his cross into the box was cleared.

As we entered the 18th minute it was a moment of brilliance from Jordan Evans. Airbus won a throw-in on the left and there was a quick interchange between Williams and Moscrop, and the midfielder found Jordan Evans with space around 25 yards out and his touch sent the visiting defender one way before he got the ball on his favoured left foot before releasing a shot that sailed and buried itself in the top corner of the net.

The goal settled the WingMakers and they were starting to control the game and just on the half hour Peers was brought down as he ran through but their was nothing given. Shortly after Tyler McManus collected the ball in his own half and ran the length of the pitch as he got himself into a shooting position, but his shot rose over the bar. It was Airbus again with a chance at goal, as a ball over the top found Blackwell-Jones and his shot across goal was just wide of the far post.

Just before half time, it looked like Airbus had doubled their lead through Peers. Peers looked to have timed his run from a lovely through ball from Jordan Evans, but the official's flag was up and VAR check saw the scoreline remain at 1-0.

There was two minutes of injury time added to the first half and it was Jordan Evans who picked the ball up in midfield and the Ammanford defence did well to usher him wide and his back heel didn't pick up an Airbus player.

As the referee blew time on the first half, Airbus went into the break with a slender lead.

Airbus got us back underway for the evening and an early tackle on Sam Rickett brought his evening to an abrupt end as he was replaced by Kieran Evans.

The visitors were starting to put pressure on the Airbus goal and on 51' minutes a ball from the left was met by Matt Deleaney who's shot come crashing off the post and then the follow up shot was blocked and went wide for a corner.

Peers had done well all evening holding the ball up and his great control allowed him to bring the ball down and play an inside pass to Jordan Evans and he carried the ball forward before a pass into McManus and his cross was dealt with by Martin as it went for an Airbus corner.

57' there was a lovely ball played into the Airbus box by Babucar Sauane and it was Delaney who got his head to the cross but he was unable to direct it on goal.

Just after the hour, there was some nice feet again from Moscrop as he releases Jordan Evans who drove forward and found Blackwell-Jones, which he linked up well with Kieran Evans and his cross was inviting across the goal but Peers was unable to get a touch.

Airbus had done well to ride the attacks by Ammanford and were starting to create more chances. Jones-Wellstead found himself through on goal after a good touch to take him past the defence but Martin was quick off his line to smother the ball.

67 minutes and on loan James Hughes replaced Ieuan Jones-Wellstead. Hughes nearly had the impact he was brought on for, as a great ball through to him found himself 1v1 with Martin and the Ammanford goalkeeper produced an excellent save from Martin.

It was wave after wave of Airbus attacks now and Jordan Evans was starting to become instrumental on the pitch, he had got himself into the box and from a tight angle his shot was gathered by Martin.

Peers did well to hold the ball up and his quick feet allowed him to find Moscrop who was coming in on goal and his shot rose over the bar.

Hughes was becoming a tricky player for Ammanford to control and on 78' he won a free kick in a dangerous area and in Jordan Evans territory but his set piece was into the wall on this occasion. Evans was involved once again shortly after as his run down the left was brilliant as he had a shot from another tight angle but he skimmed the side netting.

A ball from Blackwell-Jones was played into the box and his cross was met by Peers and his shot was blocked between the defender and the goalkeeper for a corner.

As we entered the final 10 minutes of the 90, George Peers finally had his goal. A penalty was awarded for a foul on Hughes and Peers stepped up to take the spot kick but it was saved by Martin, Peers made no mistake with the rebound as he poked it into the back of the net.

There was a final sub for Airbus on 85' as new signing Oli Calland made his home debut replacing Mason Blackwell-Jones. Calland was straight away involved as his pace and strength gave him the chance to run down the left and pick out Jordan Evans on the edge of the box and his effort into the bottom corner of the net was ruled out for offside, as Peers was in an offside position as he went for the ball.

There was other late drama as Peers had another goal ruled out for offside. A cross from the left picks up Peers at the back post unmarkerd and his simple tap in was chalked off.

As we entered four minutes of injury time Jordan Evans' strike come crashing off the bar and this was the last of the action as the WingMakers secured the three points and a clean sheet.
