Airbus welcomed Ruthin Town to The Hollingsworth Group Stadium on a cold and windy Friday evening.
The hosts made a few changes to their starting line-up with Joe Palmer returning in place of James Davies and Kaiden Cooke replacing the suspended Nathan Williams.
A minute silence was held before the game in memory of a loyal Airbus supporter Alan Thompson who sadly passed away earlier this month.
Ruthin won the toss and chose to turn Airbus around. Danny Warren got us underway for the first half kicking towards the runway.
The visitors had the first chance of the game when the ball fell to Llyr Morris in the box, but his effort was dragged wide. Airbus broke quickly from the goal kick as a run from Kaiden Cooke allowed him to get into the Ruthin box and square the ball for George Peers, but his initial effort was blocked. Peers tried his luck once again but found his shot blocked once again.
On 19 minutes a long ball, up field found Warren, but he was dispossessed by Matty Williams.
Ruthin were rewarded a corner on 26 minutes, which was met on the volley by Matty Williams, but his volley was over the bar.
Airbus turned defence into attack, as a minute later Kieran Evans delivered a great cross deep into the Ruthin box, but the ball was a little too far for Warren and his header was wide.
35 minutes, Ruthin had a great chance from a corner, the initial contact was short, but Jamie Reed had a flick at the ball towards goal, but it trickled wide.
Keighan Jones was quick off the mark with goal kick, as he found Peers who collected the ball and played into Cooke, he went on a mazy run and struck an unbelievable strike from the by-line which settled in the top corner.
It was 2-0 to the WingMakers on 38 minutes, this time Peers was the goal scorer. Warren played a ball over the top to Peers who beat the offside trap and he rounded the keeper to slot the ball home.
Jordan Evans had a chance before the half time interval, his first effort was a tame shot that was saved comfortably by Daniel Goldston.
41 minutes, Airbus were rewarded a free kick. Jordan Evans’ delivery was outstanding once again, as he found Peers at the back post. The Airbus No.11 managed to head the ball back into the 6-yard box, but Ruthin manage to clear their lines.
Airbus created the last chance of the half, as the ball was pulled back to Warren on the edge of the box, but his effort was blasted over.
Ruthin got us back underway for the second half.
51 minutes, Peers with some great skill found himself a yard of space and he sent a curling effort towards goal, but it was just wide with Goldston scrambling.
Peers did have his second 8 minutes later. There was some great link up play between Ryan Edwards and Warren, who eventually found Peers with some space on the edge of the area and his effort bounced off the inside of the post and in.
On the hour, Peers had his hattrick as Warren was involved once again. Our No.8 delivered a ball to the back post and Peers was there to tap in unchallenged to make it 4-0 to Airbus.
Peers turned provider two minutes later, as he passed the ball into Warren’s path, and he slotted the ball past Goldston with a great composed finish.
Some fresh legs were introduced shortly after with James Davies and Sam Baker replacing George Peers and Jordan Evans.
Ruthin did have a great chance to get themselves on the scoresheet, but Ryan Davies headed wide, with Keighan Jones rooted to the spot.
With fifteen minutes remaining, Cooke had his second goal of the game. Keighan Jones found Kieran Evans brilliantly with a great ball and Evans’ touch allowed him to get away from his defender and play the ball into Warren. Warren played a great through ball to Cooke and he calmly slotted the ball home to make it 6.
79 minutes, Danny Warren also scored his second goal of the game. This time some great work from Tyler McManus allowed him to step in and win the ball in midfield and played a well-timed ball into the path of Warren who only had Goldston to beat and finished across the goalkeeper into the bottom corner.
With 10 minutes of the 90 remaining, Cam Meredith and Toby Vickery replaced Danny Warren and Ryan Edwards.
Meredith had two great chances after being introduced to the game, but both his efforts were superbly blocked by the Ruthin defence.
Three points, 7 goals and a clean sheet for the WingMakers, which gave them the three points
