Airbus travelled to Bala for their fourth game of pre-season. Airbus made a promising start to the game early on with some good build up play which created opportunities higher up the pitch.
George Peers had some good early chances to put Airbus ahead however the Airbus number 11 failed to make anything of the early chances.
Bala began to have a spell of possession which led to the opening goal, after winning the ball back in midfield from Mason Blackwell-Jones, they forced a free kick which deflected behind for a corner to the home side. The ball was floated to the back post where Mike Hayes climbed higher than Sam Rickett to head home the opening goal of the game.
Airbus responded well to conceding the goal, and soon found themselves back in the game. After a brilliant passing move, the ball was played into George Peers on the edge of the box, he took a brilliant touch beyond the Bala defender and calmly converted his shot into the far bottom corner.
The equaliser put Airbus on the front foot and soon found themselves in front. Again the wingmakers moved the ball patiently up the pitch before a pass into the feet of George Peers just inside the penalty area, Peers went down after contact for the Bala centre Half and the referee pointed to the spot. Peers stepped up and drilled the penalty right down the middle to give Airbus a 2-1 lead.
The heat played a part in the game and the home side had a spell of possession towards the end of the half, without really threatening the Airbus goalkeeper. The referee blew for half time with Airbus ahead.
The second half began and the home side were having a good spell of possession in the early stages of the half. Airbus created a brilliant opportunity on the counter attack when the ball was played into Mason Blackwell-Jones, who did well to control the ball and cut inside and got his shot off, the initial shot was blocked and fell into the area where a follow shot was parried into the path of Blackwell-Jones, but he couldn’t adjust his feet quickly enough to beat the Bala goalkeeper.
The home side countered quickly and almost made it 2-2 but a great save for the Airbus trialist goalkeeper kept the wing makers in the lead.
Kaiden Cooke entered the pitch and was instantly causing problems for the Bala defenders, he picked the ball up and beat 3 players before being chopped down to win a free kick, which led to nothing.
Cooke soon had another opportunity, after some good play, his shot didn’t trouble the Bala number 1. After a shot from just outside the penalty area was straight at the goalkeeper.
The home side were back level after a foul was committed out wide, where the ball was delivered to the far post for Will Bell to head across goal where Craig Linfield was on hand to tap the ball into the net to give the home side the equaliser.
As the game was looking like ending in a draw, in the 89th minute the home side found themselves netting the winner. After a piece of individual brilliance from Charlie Fisher, after he rolled his man on the halfway line, the winger carried the ball forward before cutting inside and unleashing an unstoppable curling shot into the far top corner, to secure the winner for the home side.
Airbus now travel to Vauxhall Motors on Tuesday for their next game of preseason.
