
With our original game postponed against Brickfield due to our participation in the Welsh Blood Service League Cup, our game was re-arranged to take place at The Go Goodwins Stadium
With two games in the space of four days and suspensions, Mark Allen was forced into a few changes. Danny Warren, James Davies, Dan Collins and Josh Stevenson replaced Jake Roberts, Sam Rickett, George Peers and Blaine Hudson.
Airbus got us underway for the evening under the floodlights on a cold, wet and windy night.
The Wingmakers started the game on the front foot and in the first minute there was a cross into the box from Tyler McManus, which was headed on by Danny Warren and Mason Blackwell-Jones was there at the back post to see his shot blocked.
4’ Airbus had an early lead. Blackwell-Jones managed to ride a few tackles before finding an inside pass into the path of Warren who slotted his effort in the bottom right-hand corner of the net.
Warren had a double in quick success as he doubled Airbus’ lead. This time it was a pass from Tyler McManus who found Warren and he hit his shot first time into the back of the net in a position similar to his first goal.
After a lively opening 6 minutes, the game started to settle after twenty minutes with both teams having spells of possession with no notable chances.
27’ A tame shot by Danny Jones from the edge of the box was Brickfield’s first real chance on goal as Sam Fenney collected.
A minute late, Nath Williams picked the ball up in midfield and took a run at the Brickfield box and he decided to try his luck from distance as his shot rose over the bar.
As we entered the last 15 minutes of the first half, a really good passage of play by Airbus found James Davies in space on the right as he collected the ball he drove at the Brickfield box and his cross was blocked for a corner.
37’ Warren had a couple of good chances, the first one he was unable to get the ball under control and then the second chance took some good defending from Matty Williams to deny the Airbus No.8
This was the last action of the half as the referee blew time on the first half for Airbus, as they took a lead into the half time break with two early goals.
Second half, the hosts got us underway with the wind swirling round the home of Llandudno FC.
49 minutes, Blackwell-Jones delivered a ball into the box which was aimed for James Davies was intercepted by the Brickfield defence for a corner.
From the resulting corner, the ball fell to Warren on two occasions and both occasions his shot was blocked.
52’ Brickfield worked the ball well to Jack Edwards and his shot was wide and not troubling Fenney in the Airbus goal.
Airbus made an early substitution on 56’ as Danny Warren was replaced by Jake Roberts.
Andrew Vale was picking up some very good positions for Brickfield and this time his shot from the edge of the box was high and wide.
It wasn’t long before Roberts got himself on the score sheet, just as we passed an hour of the game. A ball in from Jordan Evans was punched away by the Brickfield ‘keeper Robbie Williams, which was only as far as Nath Williams on the right. The Airbus defender delivered a ball into the box and Roberts was the quickest to react as he pounced on the ball to prod the ball into back of the next and make it 3-0 to Airbus.
Calum Huxley had an effort for the host which wasn’t trouble Fenney as Huxley dragged his shot wide.
Some great pressure from Roberts on 73’ saw Airbus force a miss clearance from Williams, the ball fell to James Davies and as he went to have a shot he leant back a little which lifted his shot over the bar.
With the game entering the last 10 minutes, Airbus had their fourth. A brilliant delivery from a corner by Jordan Evans was attacked by Josh Stevenson and his header sailed into the back of net.
81 minutes on the clock, Vale found himself in on goal on a 1v1 situation against Fenney, but the young Airbus goalkeeper saved brilliantly with his feet.
With Airbus comfortable at 4-0, they made a triple substitution with James Allen, Blaine Hudson and Frank Sadczuk replacing Jordan Evans, Kieran Evans and Dan Collins.
Allen nearly had an instant impact when his thunderous shot brought an excellent save from Ryan Price to deny the youngster.
With the game entering added time, Airbus made their final substitution as Cam Meredith replaced captain Joe Palmer.
Fenney was called into action as we entered the latter stages, when it was that player again Andrew Vale with a shot bringing a fantastic save from Fenney down to his right to push the ball away for a corner.
Airbus weren’t finished at 4 as they made it 5 with seconds remaining. Sadczuk delivered a brilliant ball into the back post from the right and Meredith was there to head it in, with the goal being made by the academy players.
Shortly after the ref blew time on the game, as Airbus ended the game with 5 goals, a clean sheet and a step towards promotion.
