Frustrating afternoon for the WingMakers

Airbus travelled to Stockport Sports Village to take on Cheadle Town for their third preseason game. The wingmakers made a positive start to the game with some early controlled possession.

It wasn’t long before Kaiden Cooke was getting some joy down the right hand side of the pitch when he received the ball and beat his man to get in behind the back line but failed to convert his shot.

Airbus soon found themselves in a good position when George Peers linked up well with Tyler McManus down the right, McManus delivered a great ball into the box where trialist A managed to lose his but couldn’t steer his header in the far corner.

Kaiden Cooke soon found himself in a great position where he beat 3 men before narrowly dragging his right footed effort wide of the post.

Jordan Evans was the next player to see his chance go begging, again some great work down the right saw a cross perfectly placed onto the head of Evans who got a good connection on the header but the home side keeper made a great save to deny the Airbus man the opening goal.

As the half time whistle went, the wingmakers could have seen themselves at least 3 goals to the good, while the home side didn’t test Airbus goalkeeper Sam Fenney.

The home side got the second half under way and within 30 seconds found them selves in front. Mason Blackwell Jones appeared to be fouled, which the lineman flagged for the free kick, however the referee didn’t blow his whistle and the home side took full advantage and snook a shot inside the bottom corner.

The wingmakers struggled to get a foot hold in the game and never found their rhythm in the second half and the game petered out for the home side to win the game 1-0.

Airbus struggled to cause any real threat on the Cheadle goal but forced a few late corners which led to nothing. The best chance of the second half fell to Sean Moscrop on the edge of the box but he dragged his left footed effort well wide of goal.

Airbus now travel to Bala on Saturday 11th July for their next test of preseason
