A goal just before half time by Adam Davies is enough to separate the sides.

The WingMakers were looking to build on their 2-0 win against Ammanford AFC at the Hollingsworth Group Stadium last Friday.

There was two changes to the Airbus starting line-up as Kieran Evans replaced Sam Rickett and the returning Kaiden Cooke replacing Ieuan Jones-Wellstead.

Airbus got us underway for the evening kicking off in their bright orange away kit and it was quite an even opening five minutes as both teams got to grip with each other’s play.

Kaiden Cooke found George Peers on 7 minutes in the Colwyn Bay box and his first touch took him away from his defender and his shot was blocked for a corner.

4 minutes later, Jordan Evans does well to chase down and block the ball near the Colwyn Bay box and it falls to Peers and his shot is saved by the foot of Mark Halstead.

The hosts had their first threat on the Airbus goal after 15 minutes on the clock. A corner was swung in from the left which Louie Fallon managed to punch clear the delivery, which fell to a Colwyn Bay player on the edge of the box, but his shot was blocked by Kieran Evans. The ball was then worked out to Josh Williams who got to the by-line and dinked the ball to the back post for Dan Roberts to have a shot and his effort was over the bar.

17’ the ball was played back to Fallon, and his poor clearance was intercepted by Callum Bratley, who had an open goal to aim for, but some fantastic defending from Nath Williams denied the hosts an opener.

Shortly after there was a chance the other end, this time for Airbus, there was some nice build up play down the right by the WingMakers, as Cooke cut inside and unfortunately dragged his shot wide.

Both teams were creating chances, and this time it was the turn of the Seagulls as their build-up play was good down the right as a cross into the near post was met by Adam Davies but his effort was wide.

On 25, Colwyn Bay won themselves a corner and the delivery from Josh Williams was a good one as he found Lewis Sirrell waiting with a free header as his agonisingly watched the ball drop just wide of the post.

There was a chance for Airbus as the game was slowly reaching the half time break as Kieran Evans delivered a ball into the box and Nathan Peate missed he clearance and the ball fell to Peers and Halstead made a point blank save to deny the Airbus No.11.

Unfortunately shortly after the hosts put themselves in front, a cross into the box from Sam Hart was met by a towering header from Adam Davies, who headed the ball back across goal and into the back of the net.

This was the last action of the half as 1 minute of time was added on, in a very evenly competed half, but it was a goal from Davies that gave the Seagulls a slender lead.

Colwyn Bay got us back underway for the second half as the temperature started to drop on what had been a lovely evening and Airbus were looking to get themselves back into the game and the first chance fell to Joe Palmer. The ball was worked well to release Tyler McManus, and he played a square ball into Joe Palmer, but his effort was always rising as it sailed over the bar.

There was an early substitution for Airbus as Oli Calland replaced Tyler McManus on 56, as they searched for that equalising goal.

Kaiden Cooke was starting to have some joy down the right and this time he took on Hart and the Colwyn Bay full back did well to block the initial shot from Cooke. The ricochet from the block fell to Cooke once again and his effort was cleared into the path of Palmer and his shot into the ground was not troubling the hosts ‘keeper. Cooke was starting to cause some problems for Colwyn Bay, and a free kick was awarded on 67 for a high challenge on the Airbus No.10. The set piece was taken by Jordan Evans and as he went for goal from a tight angle his effort was over the bar.

Jake Roberts and James Hughes were introduced to the game as Mason Blackwell-Jones and George Peers made way.

There was some more brilliant play from Cooke on 82, as he got passed Hart and delivered a very dangerous ball across goal, but it was just ahead of Hughes as he was stretching for the ball at the far post. Cooke was involved once again shortly after as his driving run at the Colwyn Bay box allowed him to get a shot towards the bottom right-hand corner of the goal as it was saved by a strong hand by Halstead.

A late introduction with five minutes of the 90 remaining as Oli Lanceley replaced Kaiden Cooke as Airbus searched for the equalising goal.

Kieran Evans found Jake Roberts on the edge of the box with a good ball and Roberts’ first touch got him away from Peate and his shot on the turn across goal was collected by Halstead.

There was chances for both teams as the game headed towards the 90 minutes, as Dan Roberts tried his luck from the edge of the box and it was deflected for a corner as it just raised over the crossbar.

There was 6 minutes of time added due to a few VAR decisions the officials had to take care of and it was Airbus trying to bombard the Colwyn Bay box, and the only decent chance they had was when Kieran Evans delivered a cross in which was initially cleared and the clearance fell to Jordan Evans who hit the ball on the volley, but the ball was always rising over the bar.

The referee blew time and it was a frustrating evening for Airbus as they suffered their second loss on their return to the Cymru Premier.
