Airbus started their Novira Cymru Premier league campaign off with a trip to The Bridge Meadow Stadium to take on Haverfordwest County on Match Day 1.

On a lovely summers day, Airbus named two new signings in their starting XI as Louie Fallon and Sean Moscrop featured, with Brandon Diau, James Hughes and Evan Smith making up the substitute bench.

The hosts started brightly when a ball over the top of the Airbus defence which was met by goalkeeper Fallon who got his head to the ball, as the second bounce caught him out but Nath Williams was there to clear his lines.

On 6 minutes, Kaiden Cooke did well to hold the ball up and he set Sean Moscrop, who played a lovely ball into George Peers on the half turn, but his touch was a little heavy to keep it under control.

Airbus were matching their hosts and were having good spells of possession, but on 18' Haverfordwest had their first corner which was played to the back post and the header was sent back across to Ben Ahmun who's header was comfortably gathered by Fallon.

A few moments later, a strike from Jordan Evans clipped the post and Ifan Knott reacted well to push the ball round the post. From the resulting corner, Cooke forced Knott into another save with a well struck shot.

Half an hour played and Haverfordwest had some good link up play down the right which allowed Dylan Rees to get in behind the Airbus defence and his effort came crashing of the crossbar from a tight angle. A minute later and it was Airbus on the attack as the ball was won in midfield and Cooke drove at the County defence who found Mason Blackwell-Jones before his shot was eventually blocked by Rees.

Airbus were starting to take control of the game as half time was approaching and they were asking questions of the visitors. Kaiden Cooke was the one that was involved again and unfortunately this time his shot was straight at Knott as he collected.

42' A very good press from Jordan Evans saw him block the ball and the ball fell kindly into his path and his resulting effort was saved by Knott. Knott was the busier of the keeper leading up to the half time break and he was called into action a minute later as Blackwell-Jones timed a very good run in behind the hosts defence and his right footed shot brought a good save from Knott once again.

There was no time added to the first half and Airbus went into the break, probably just pipping it on performance and chances created.

The second half got underway and Cooke had the first chance of the second half. He was found down the left and he drove into the box and his pull back was met by Jordan Evans at the near post but Knott collected.

49' Benjamin Phillips fired a low ball across goal and it evaded everyone and just went wide of the far post. This was a turn in the game as the home team started to have more controlled possession. Greg Walters tried his luck from 25 yards as he found himself in space and his shot was always rising as Fallon watched it over the bar. Fallon was called into action once again as he did well to get down low to his left after a shot from Walters.

Approaching the hour mark, Haverfordwest delivered a ball in from the left, which Fallon managed to get a hand to and Nath Williams was there to help clear the danger. Two minutes later, the hosts did have the ball in the back of the net. Ahmun had made a great run in behind the Airbus defence and beat Fallon at his near post, but the officials flag halted their celebrations as VAR confirmed Ahmun was offside.

The disallowed goal, kicked Airbus into another gear. As Cooke was once again found with a great ball as he ran at the hosts defence, a good tackle halted him in his tracks but he did well to get a toe to the ball and into George Peers' path but his shot was blocked.

Cooke again was having all the joy as he was finding space in the Haverfordwest half. The youngster worked his way to the line and was able to clip the ball back into the box, but it was just too high for Peers to bring down under control.

With 15 minutes of the 90 remaining, Airbus were forced into a substitution as Peers went down with cramp and was replaced by loanee James Hughes and it wasn't long before Hughes was involved. He found space in County's box and squared the ball which was cleared.

81' A free kick was awarded to Airbus in a dangerous position which was exciting for Jordan Evans. The vice-captain's set piece was taken brilliantly and Knott pulled of a fantastic save to deny the Airbus No.8.

Jake Roberts was introduced on 84' for the hard working Blackwell-Jones as Airbus searched for that goal. And that goal arrived, a free kick was awarded and Evans delivered a lovely weight set piece to the back post and Josh Stevenson was there to volley the ball into the far corner of the net. A celebration for Airbus and also the academy to see one of their own score on the opening day of the season!

88' It was Haverfordwest that were awarded a free kick on the edge of the box. The resulting set piece was close as it was just wide of the post, which Fallon looked to have covered.

There was four minutes of time added on with subs and a VAR check and Airbus saw the game out with two late substitutions with Evan Smith and Ieuan Jones-Wellstead replacing Joe Palmer and Kaiden Cooke. The final whistle went on a great afternoon for the WingMakers securing three points on their first game of the Seaoson
