The WingMakers start the Easter weekend off with three points

Airbus entered the Easter weekend with an away trip to Holywell Town FC on Good Friday, after a 3-0 win last weekend against Guilsfield.

With Monday’s game in mind, Airbus made two changes to his starting line-up with Jake Roberts and Nath Williams replacing Danny Warren and Tyler McManus.

With another windy affair in the JD Cymru North, Jake Roberts got us underway for the afternoon as Airbus were attacking against the wind.

From kick off the ball made its way to John Danby and his long ball forward landed at Jamie Breese’s feet and his strike hit the post.

9’ minutes, A throw in by Sam Rickett was controlled by Jordan Evans well as Rickett played a great pass forward into Jake Roberts, who flicked the ball into George Peers as he drove at the Holywell box. His pull back fround Roberts on the edge of the box, and the ball bobbled just before him as his shot rose over the bar.

Another chance landed at Breese’s feet once again three minutes later, as he looked close to being offside and his effort again come off the post, but this time it bounced back off the post and into Keighan Jones’ hands.

James Davies was finding a lot of space down the right. This time he received the ball in space down the right but Jack Sconce did well to get back and block and stop Davies in his tracks.

Holywell had another good chance on 18’, as Joe Sullivan tried his luck from long range as he saw his effort come crashing off the crossbar.

Against the run of play, Airbus took the lead a minute later. There was a great ball played down the right into Davies’ path as he took on Danny Sullivan and he pulled the ball back across the goal for Mason Blackwell-Jones to tap in.

Airbus took a battering at the goal shortly after as they defended well to keep their lead. First of all one chance was cleared off the line by Kieran Evans, Keighan Jones’ reflexes were put to the test as he did well to save from point blank range and the move ended with Craig Lindfield blazing over from the edge of the box.

Holywell had the last chance of the half as a shot from Ryan Edwards looked t be travelling, but once again the Airbus defence put their body on the line as it was deflected for a corner

The referee blew time on the first half as the visitors went into the half time break with a lead after riding a wave from the hosts.

Holywell got us back underway for the second half as the sun made a brief appearance for the game.

53’ a ball bounced for Roberts to get on to and he did well to get something from a 1v1 with Danby, the ball fell to Blackwell-Jones and his shot was blocked for a corner.

Craig Lindfield collected the ball on the edge of the area and pulled the ball back to set Sullivan, but his shot was way over the bar.

On the hour, Airbus doubled their lead. A brilliant delivery from the left was met by Nath Williams, who flicked the ball towards goal and Roberts with a striker’s instinct tapped the ball into the back of the net at the back post.

Airbus made their first substitution on 65’, as Mason Blackwell-Jones made way for Kaiden Cooke, as he stepped up his return from injury.

James Davies had a really good game so far and he nearly got the goal his performance deserved as a corner from Jordan Evans was headed narrowly wide at the back post.

With 12 minutes of the 90 remaining, Airbus made their second substitution as Tyler McManus replaced George Peers.

84’ Davies was involved once again as he did well down the right and deliver a cross across the box was finished at the back post by Kaiden Cooke.

Holywell had a rare opportunity six minutes from time, as Fabrizio Murtas whipped a dangerous ball across goal and it just had too much pace on the ball for Lindfield at the back post.

The last substitution of the game was Dan Collins for Jordan Evans as the game headed into injury time. Two minutes into that injury time, Airbus were awarded a free kick in a dangerous position. Sconce stood over the set piece and he curled his effort straight into Jones’ hands.

The referee’s whistle went on good afternoon for Airbus as they took 3 points to add to their tally.
