Eventful second Pre-Season game

Airbus travelled to Mold Alex FC for their second pre season fixture on Tuesday evening in preparation for the upcoming season.

Airbus made a positive start and settled into the game with some good controlled possession. After a great passing move Airbus created their first chance of the evening but the home side goalkeeper was able to tip a shot wide of the post after a shot from just outside the area from George Peers. Airbus forced consecutive corners and from a scramble in the box a loose ball was cleared from the home side Ieuan Jones-Wellstead was unable to get the right weight on his back pass which allowed Kieran Owens to latch onto the loose ball and take it round Sam Fenney to roll the ball into the empty net and give the home side the lead.

Airbus responded well to the early set back and continued to move the ball well creating some good chances, however they were unable to get the goal to bring them level in the game. Shortly after a controlled spell of possession Airbus managed to get themselves back in the game. A quick flowing passing move was converted inside the box when Jake Roberts guided the ball towards goal which took a deflection to take the ball into the back of the net and brought Airbus level.

It wasn’t long before the away Airbus got their second goal of the game, another patient build up of possession resulted in Jake Roberts finding the back of the net after a shot bobbled over the outstretched arms of the Mold goalkeeper.

Late on in the half Mold found themselves level after some sloppy defending from the Airbus allowed the home team to capitalise and bring them back into the game.

Airbus continued to move the ball well in the early stages, however they were guilty of missing numerous chances to take the game away from the home side. All those missed chances resulted in the home side building in confidence and Luca Hogan was able to get on the end of a cross to steer the ball home to make it 3-2 to Mold.

Airbus were presented with an opportunity to bring the scores level after being awarded a penalty, Peers stepped up but saw his effort saved by the Mold number 1.

Pressure began to build on the home sides goal and Airbus were level after some good players on the left where Trialist C cut inside to bend the ball into the far bottom corner to make the score 3-3.

Mold continued to look a threat on the counter attack but were unable to take advantage of the opportunities. Airbus finally got themselves back in front with the fourth goal of the game after a through ball to Kaiden Cooke drew the goalkeeper in before slotting the ball through the on rushing number one to wrap up the game and second win of preseason for the wing makers.

Good luck to Mold for their upcoming season, attention now turns to Cheadle on Saturday.
