WingMakers battle it out to come away with three points

Saturday, we made the trip to the home of Bala Town, Maes Tegid to play Ruthin Town FC in the JD Cymru North League.

Airbus made the following changes to the starting line-up which started against Gresford Athletic with Josh Stevenson, Tyler McManus and James Davies replacing Tom Dougherty, Nathan Williams and Dan Collins.

In a first half which wasn’t very exciting for the neutral. Airbus were limited to shots with most of them being blocked and being frustrated by the Ruthin defence and the visitors were struggling to put their flowing game to fruition.

Keighan Jones was also called into action in the first half when he made a fantastic save to deny the Ruthin forward.
37 minutes and Ruthin were reduced to 10 men, when Sam Jones was shown a red card for a high challenge on George Peers.

Just before half time Sam Baker had a great chance to give Airbus the lead after Stevenson found him with a searching ball, but Baker failed to capitalise.

Half time and the scoreline remained goalless.

Airbus started the second half searching for that breakthrough and Kieran Evans had a great chance to open the scoring but Goldston was equal to the shot with a good save.

Jordan Evans’ quality on the ball nearly created an opening goal for the WingMakers when he delivered a cross into the box and the resulting header from Oli Lanceley was over the bar.

The Evans' brothers continued to deliver some superb balls into the box, this time it was the turn of Kieran as he crossed the ball which found Peers, but Goldston pulled off a fantastic save to deny the Airbus No.11.

Goldston was on top form and was Ruthin’s saviour again as he saved a powerful shot from Jordan Evans.

72 minutes, Airbus had their lead, and it come from a set piece. George Peers stepped up and struck a perfectly placed free kick to make it 1-0 to the ‘Bus

James Davies got in on the action too as a well-timed ball from Joe Palmer found Davies but Goldston was a match again to keep the winger at bay.

It wasn’t the last of the action, as Goldston was called upon once again this time keeping a shot from Peers out.

Airbus battled through to take three points and secure a 7th consecutive win to extend their unbeaten run against a very well-structured Ruthin Town side.
