Airbus progressed into the quarter finals after a 2-0 win at the Hollingsworth Group Stadium over league rivals Holywell Town. The Wingmakers broke the deadlock through Danny Warren as he converted a brilliant cross from Kaiden Cooke at the back post to give the Airbus the lead going into the half time break.

Airbus doubled their lead just after the hour mark, through George Peers, again being assisted by Cooke. The youngster drove into the box and picked out Peers; the Airbus No.11 saw his initial shot saved but he made no mistake with his second chance as he placed it into the back of the net.

After scoring in the last round, Danny Warren knows Saturday will be a good battle, “We’re really looking forward to Saturday’s game against Newtown. We know exactly what they bring – Lenny has them very well organised and they’re always tough to break down.

It’s great to be competing on all fronts this season, and defending our title in this competition is something everyone is eager to do.
We’re well aware that form often goes out the window in Cup football and that it’s a one-off game. Hopefully it makes for a good spectacle, with both teams looking to go out and win.

The lads have trained extremely well this week and are fully focused on the task ahead. It’s a fantastic competition to be involved in, and hopefully we can take another step towards our goal on Saturday”

Newtown’s progression into the quarterfinals was a tight affair as they took on neighbours Caersws at Latham Park. They were reduced to 10 men on 40 minutes so had an uphill battle playing against 11 of Caersws.

On 79 minutes, Newtown got their goal through Tomas Jones. The goal from Jones was enough to see Newtown see the game out as their visitors were also reduced to 10 men in injury time when Tommy Rowlands was given a straight red.
