Forward leaves WingMakers due to family commitments

After two seasons with Airbus, Danny Warren has made the difficult decision to leave the WingMakers due to family commitments.

Warren signed for Airbus back in June 2024, from fellow Flintshire rivals Mold Alexandra FC. He spent 7 seasons at The Alex, and his brilliant scoring record caught Mark Allen’s eye.

As it was, Danny’s first game for Airbus was against his old club in the first round of the Nathaniel MG Cup at the Hollingsworth Group Stadium, where his equalising goal before half time after Mold had taken an early lead, set Airbus on their way to a 3-2 win, whilst down to 10 men.

The goal against Mold set Warren on his goal scoring journey, as 2 goals and 2 assists followed in the opening game of the JD Cymru North 24/25 season, as Airbus went on to record a 7-0 win against Denbigh Town. A hat-trick followed in his next league game as he scored three out of the 5 goals Airbus put past Llandudno. He recorded a brace against Prestatyn Town in 7-3 goal thriller at home in the JD Cymru North, as well as two more hat-tricks against Bangor 1876 FC and Llay Welfare.

Two great goals come in a thrilling contest between Airbus and Colwyn Bay in Airbus’ run to lifting the Welsh Blood Cup as they went on to beat the winners of the league that season 3-2.

In his debut season with Airbus, he went on to win the Golden Boot award for the JD Cymru North 24/25 season where he scored 24 goals in 27 appearances.

Alongside his award for Golden boot, Airbus were successful in the Welsh Blood Service League Cup beating Bangor 1876 FC in the Northern Final and then becoming National champions with a 3-2 victory over Trefelin at Aberystwyth Town. The cup was slowly becoming the Danny Warren cup as he had previously won the trophy with Mold the season before, where they beat Briton Ferry 4-2, with Warren scoring two goals on the day. Alongside the two Welsh Blood cups, Airbus added the NEWFA Senior challenge Cup to their cup collection and Warren’s trophy count too.

The 25/26 Season was a bit of a mix bag for Warren. His first goal of the Season come against Mold Alex once again in a cup competition as Airbus were drawn against them in the first round of the Welsh Blood Service League Cup. Goals followed in the league against Guilsfield, Caersws, CPD Y Rhyl 1879 FC and Ruthin Town FC.

Warren hit a difficult period through November as his form took a dip and he was looking to find his confidence in front of goal, but as a goal scorer you put pressure on yourself if you are not scoring, but his form was soon back and it was a hat-trick against Penrhyncoch that set him on his way to 16 league goals for the season.

A brace against Caersws in a 5-0 victory was followed by a hat-trick once again against Mold in Airbus’ biggest win for the club as they blew their visitors away with 8 goals. Warren finished this season with a brace against League winners Llandudno as he scored with his first touch as he sent a bullet header into the back of the net.

With a different format introduced to the Welsh Blood this Season, Airbus went on to reach the final once again after a semi final win against JD Cymru South team Afan Lido and Warren was on the score sheet that game as they sailed through to the final with a 5-0 win. Waiting in the final was another South Wales side in Treowen Stars and it was successful day for the WingMakers as they went on to win the final and kept their position as National winners.

Warren was looking to add a 5th trophy to his accolades and it was Holywell that stood in Airbus’ way again as it was a copy of the NEWFA Men’s Senior Challenge Cup from 24/25, and it was Airbus that retained the trophy with 4-1 win against their fellow promoted JD Cymru North side and Warren scored a volley and from the penalty spot to help Airbus lift the trophy once again.

Danny’s figures speak for themselves within two seasons at Airbus he has made 78 appearances, scoring 51 goals (in all competitions), contributing with 17 assists, 5 trophies, securing promotion to the Welsh Prem and a golden boot trophy!

We would like to thank Danny for his time, commitment, empathy, quality and professionalism on and off the pitch, and we are sorry to see him go. We wish him all the best in his next footballing venture!
