James Davies joined Airbus on 1st September 2023 from Bala Town, who brought along with him plenty of experience, with previous spells at Cefn Druids and Newtown AFC, where Davies was a key part of both teams qualifying for Europe
In his first season (2023/24), Davies went on to make 19 appearances with a return of 10 goals and 3 assists in the JD Cymru North. His first goal for Airbus came in the league as a substitute at home to Ruthin Town, where he scored the second goal to secure three points. He carried on his form with a goal and assist following in games against Prestatyn Town and Caersws FC.
James started 2024 on a good run as he scored 6 goals in 6 games, where he scored two braces against Gresford Athletic and Ruthin Town once again.
James’ second season saw him start the season with an assist in a Nathaniel MG Cup victory against Mold Alexandra. He went on to assist Kaiden Cooke who gave Airbus a 2-1 lead in the game after going a goal down. Our first JD Cymru league game was against Denbigh Town, and our No.20 contributed 4 goals in a 7-0 win along with an assist for Danny Warren, who started the scoring train that evening. James went on to open the scoring against Guilsfield away before the hosts pulled one back and the game was won by a late penalty which was converted by George Peers.
His second hattrick of the season came against Denbigh Town once again as he scored 3 goals in 4-0 win at Central Park. A brace in an 8-3 win against Holywell town at the Hollingsworth Group Stadium come before the hattrick away at Denbigh Town.
On the road to our Welsh Blood Service League cup victories. Davies scored with 7 minutes of coming on as a substitute for Jordan Evans to wrap up a 5-1 victory against Llay Welfare. He also scored in the next round in an eventful game against Colwyn Bay as James scored the winning goal in a 3-2 victory. In the Northern final against Bangor 1876 FC at Llandudno, James got his name on the scoresheet as he drew Airbus level after an opening goal from Liam Morris, as Jordan Evans went to score in the 77th minute to crown Airbus WBS Northern Winners.
At the end of a busy but successful season, James went on to play the full 90 minutes against Trefelin in the National final, as he was a big part of Airbus lifting the trophy. He also went on to win the NEWFA Cup as Airbus beat Holywell Town 4-0.
Last Season was a bit of an up and down season for James, as niggly injuries started to set in. His first goal of the campaign came against Brickfield Rangers in a 5-0 thumping on bank holiday Monday. He then went on to score a goal away at Flint Mountain and a brace against CPD Y Rhyl 1879 FC in another high scoring match, this time the game ended 6-0. In a very tough and demanding game away at Mold Alexandra FC, Davies received a red card for allegedly kicking out and this led to him missing the Christmas period due to a three-game ban.
As we entered the last few month of 25/26 season, Davies hit a very good run of form. It started away at Holywell Town on Good Friday as he chipped in with two assists setting both Kaiden Cooke and Mason Blackwell-Jones for their goals. Afan Lido awaited Airbus in the semi-final of the WBS Cup and James got on the scoresheet as he scored the opening goal in 5-0 victory to book Airbus a space in the final once again. Treowen Stars awaited Airbus in the WBS Final and after George Peers converted from the penalty spot, James was introduced to the game with 20 minutes remaining and he secured silverware for the club as he finished a fantastic effort to make it 2-0.
We would like to thank James for the three seasons he has had at the club, where he went on to make 91 appearances, scoring 36 goals along the way, as well as creating 14 goals, winning 5 trophies and securing promotion to the Welsh Prem this season.
Thank you for the experience, athleticism and professionalism you have shown over them three seasons, and we would like to wish you all the best in the future on what it might bring.
