U10's In Action On A Cold Morning

A frosty morning at the airfield this morning and with Bangor making the journey we were thankful of the 3G pitch.

Once the pitch had thawed we made a start.

Airbus were slow out of the blocks today, and a lack of concentration let the visitors in for an early goal.

After a mixed start, we settled into the game and during the first period had many chances to get back into the game. 0-1 at the end of the first period.

Onto the second period and we set up with a more attacking formation to hopefully get some rewards for our efforts.

This worked well and we took control of the game, going ahead with a neat slotted finish from Stanley Horrocks past a panicked defence who we increasingly put under pressure throughout the period.

Rhys Powell added a second with a stooping header at the near post from a Benjamin McEvoy corner. 2-1 up at the break.

The final period was again tight between the 2 teams & again numerous substitutions were made by Airbus.

Bangor had some technically gifted players and between them they carved us open twice in the last 7 minutes, leaving us 3-2 down with minutes left on the clock.

Unfortunately Airbus were unable to take any of their chances to level the score in the dying minutes, with the Bangor keeper making numerous good saves.

Overall a good close game against an organised Bangor team. On another day, if Airbus had taken their chances, the scoreline may have been different.

Credit to Bangor for performing well & making the journey. We look forward to a return game in the 2020.
