It has been a busy month for the U11s lads as most have Flintshire Schoolboy's to contend with alongside Academy & grassroots commitments.

Thus, we brought our October matches to a close as we welcomed Flint Academy U11 to the Hollingsworth Stadium on the wettest day of the year so far.

Airbus started well and had 3 clear chances that we didn't take and in all fairness the Flint GK made 2 fantastic saves. Most of the play was in the opposition half and we were rarely troubled in defensive areas. Airbus opened the scoring through Aleksei who finished well into the bottom corner after latching on to a fantastic pass between the lines from midfield. We put a decent amount of pressure on the Flint goal and it finally told when Aleksei grabbed his second of the day reacting well in the box. 2-0 at the end of the 1st period.

Changes were made by both teams in the 2nd period and Flint started off the better of the 2 teams. Airbus struggled to gain the momentum that they had in the 1st period and there were half chances at both ends. Flint got the rewards that their 2nd period performance deserved, and scored through a good finish from ex Airbus player Alfie, who slotted the ball into the bottom corner. What was pleasing was that Airbus reacted well and scored with almost the next attack when Toby slotted home after the ball came back out from the keeper following a fierce shot from Lewis Dawson. However a poor clearance from a corner enabled Flint to get back into the match and the score ended 3-2 at the end of the 2nd period.

The final period is where Airbus U11 entertained & showed what they are capable of. After an excellent problem solving session during the break, the boys entered the pitch and scored an excellent 5 pass combination team goal through Aleksei - who completed his at trick within the 1st minute. 2 superb finishes into the top corner from distance from Toby and Aiden took the match away from Flint and Lewys added the finishing touch in the final stages.

The match ended 7-2 to Airbus.

The play in all positions in this period was much improved and the the positive reaction from the lads was exactly what was required.
