It is unusual for a match to commence in minus conditions, but tonight it was about as cold as it gets as we welcomed Prestatyn Academy to the Hollingsworth Stadium.
The young wingmakers got off to a quick start and created 2 chances, only to be foiled by the opposition goalkeeper.
Airbus took the lead after 10 minutes with Lewys Williams pouncing quickly on a half chance in the box.
We added a 2nd soon after, when Toby Lemon scored a fine individual goal, by spinning his man and slotting well under the keeper.
Prestatyn came into the match and scored with a long range shot that lobbed over Thomas into the top corner.
Numerous substitutions were made due to the cold weather and the match became scrappy. Airbus had plenty of the ball but couldnt add to their total as we struggled to breach the Prestatyn defensive setup in the final phase.
2-1 at the break.
The second half was more of the same, with us trying to rotate players because of the freezing temperatures.
We had 80/85% possession but only managed to add one further goal through Aiden Calby, with an assured left foot finish.
We didn't look like conceding any goals, but didn't have the cutting edge to make the game comfortable.
Game finished 3-1...plenty to work on but in truth, a below par performance and the squad will reflect on improvements that can be made.
