Newtown AFC Preview
We welcome former JD Cymru Premier outfit Newtown AFC on Friday evening
Ahead of a double header this Bank Holiday weekend at the Hollingsworth Group Stadium, we firstly welcome Newtown AFC.
Newtown are JD Cymru North newcomers this season after facing relegation last season from the JD Cymru Premier.
Mark Allen knows this will be a tough game but is confident in his squad, “Looking forward to welcoming Newtown on Friday. We have worked hard this week to make sure we are fully prepared for what will be our most difficult challenge so far this season.
We hope to welcome a few players back which will add variety to the match day squad and want to build upon a good away win last week”
Our visitors have had an unbeaten start to the Season with wins against Ruthin Town, Penrhyncoch and Flint Mountain. Airbus and Newtown are two of the three teams with unbeaten record so far this season.
The last few times both teams played each other was in the JD Cymru Premier coming in the 2019/20 Season and 2022/23 Season. Within those games, Airbus and Newtown had one win each and 2 draws.
After 3 wins and 3 clean sheets to start the season, Nath Williams knows Friday evening will be a tough game, “We’re all looking forward to a big game against Newtown on Friday, both if us have started the League well and it should be a good game.
They’ve come down into this league so they’ll be competitive and have good quality. We’ve played well so far but we know we’ve got to keep our standards high and hopefully we can add another 3 points”
