On a windy Friday evening, Airbus welcomed Holywell Town to the Hollingsworth Group Stadium in a clash of two unbeaten sides in the JD Cymru North
Mark Allen named an unchanged side to take on The Well men as he looked to build on the performance against Gresford Athletic last week.
Danny Warren got us under way for the first half as teams switched sides as Airbus were attacking the runway.
9 minutes in and the first chance of the half fell to Airbus. Ieuan Hewitt went to head the ball clear, but it come of the back of his head an landed into the path of Warren. Warren settled himself but his effort was wide.
Shortly after the ball fell to Warren on the edge of the box but his effort was wide of the target.
It was all Airbus in the opening exchanges. Kaiden Cooke was involved this time as he found Mason Blackwell-Jones and his pass into Warren found the forward in space and his connection wasn’t quite there to get his shot on target.
An unbelievable ball on 15’ by Kieran Evans across the 6-yard box was a nightmare for the Holywell defence but they survived as Warren and Peers were unable to make a connection.
Jordan Evans found himself in space on 22 minutes and his shot was saved by John Danby to deny the Airbus captain.
It was the battle of the Cooke’s on the right-hand side of the pitch, and Kaiden cut inside to get a shot off at the Holywell goal, but the Airbus No.10 managed to drag his shot past the near post.
2 minutes later it was Jake to have a shot at goal. He picked the ball up in space in midfield and drove at the Airbus back line. He managed to snatch at the shot, and it wasn’t troubling Jones in goal.
Danny Warren made a brilliant run in behind the Holywell back line and his shot from the right-hand side of the penalty area brought a good save from Danby, which eventually went out for a throw in.
From the resulting throw-in, Josh Stevenson found Jordan Evans, and he sent a curling shot which was inches wide of settling into the top corner.
With a couple of minutes added in the first half, Airbus carved the last chance of the half. A cross from Jordan Evans was sliced clear by the Holywell defender and out for a corner.
The half time whistle blew and both sides went in still searching for the opening goal.
Holywell got us underway for the second half as the wind started to get stronger and playing conditions becoming difficult.
The visitors started the half a little brighter and they were awarded a corner on 54’. They took the corner short and once the ball was delivered in Jamie Breese got his header all wrong and was out for a goal kick.
Holywell’s Ryan Edwards found himself through the Airbus back line, but Keighan Jones was quick off his line to smother the danger and collect the ball safely.
Edwards was starting to pick little pockets up and this time he drove inside as he collected the ball outside the box, but his execution was poor as he dragged his effort wide.
Airbus on 72’ created some great football, especially between Jordan Evans and Mason Blackwell-Jones down the left. Blackwell-Jones found Danny Warren with an inside pass and his shot was saved well by Danby.
Kieran Evans tried his look on 75 minutes as he tested a shot from distance with the weather conditions. His dipping shot may have caused Danby problems, but it was just over the crossbar.
Jordan Evans played a lovely, weighted pass through to Danny Warren on 76’ and with Danby to beat his shot unfortunately his effort was over the bar.
There was a last throw of the dice from Airbus as Danny Warren and Mason Blackwell-Jones were replaced by Oli Lanceley and James Davies.
With Airbus trying to get that goal, Jordan Evans come close. His effort from distance was covered well by Danby as it sailed over the cross bar.
A cross by Kaiden Cooke was punched away by Danby as Lanceley and Davies were waiting to prod the ball into the back of the net.
There was five minutes of timed added on but both teams were unable to find the back of the net. Points were shared and both teams kept their unbeaten record intact.
