WingMakers Claim Convincing Victory Over Trefelin

Airbus UK Broughton produced an assured performance to secure a 3–0 victory over Trefelin BGC, with a brace from George Peers and a fine individual goal from Kaiden Cooke securing all three points for the WingMakers.

Airbus started the game positively and created the first opening after just three minutes. Oli Calland won possession in the centre of the pitch and found George Peers, who cleverly flicked the ball into the path of Kaiden Cooke. His cross was dealt with by the Trefelin defence before Josh Stevenson was unable to make the required connection from the resulting corner.

The early pressure continued and Airbus took the lead in the 10th minute.

Oli Calland intercepted a pass in his own half and played in Cooke, the Airbus No.10’s shot was headed away by Louis Caramella-Gerrard only as far as Jordan Evans who found Jack Parry with a lofted pass and his pass found his way into Peers’ path and he showed excellent composure to finish beyond Scott Coughlin and put the WingMakers in front.

Jordan Evans had a great chance on 18 minutes as a shot within his range was blasted over the cross bar.

Airbus doubled their advantage two minutes later.

Cooke collected the ball inside his own half after some excellent work from Sean Moscrop to win the ball back and drove forward at the Trefelin defence. After carrying the ball a considerable distance, he kept his composure to slot his effort beyond Coughlin into the bottom right-hand corner and make it 2–0.

The visitors had a half chance on 34 minutes as a header from Jasper Jones was just over the bar as he managed to find a way in front of Stevenson.

Airbus continued to look dangerous in possession. In the 37th minute, Jordan Evans found Parry, whose excellent cross field pass released Cooke. The forward's shot flashed across the face of goal as the WingMakers searched for a third.

Two goals to the good at the break, Airbus remained firmly in control.

The second half got underway with Airbus looking to extend their lead but it was Trefelin with the first chance of the half. A ball come into the box and Louie Fallon come to clear and as he did there was a nasty collision briefly stopping play. Fallon was subsequently replaced by Jacob Clement in the 49th minute, as the goalkeeper was unable to continue.

Clement was soon called upon and produced an excellent save in the 56th minute, getting down low to his left to deny Jones and preserve Airbus' advantage.

Shortly after Mason Blackwell-Jones did well down the left and pulled the ball back to Peers and his shot was saved by Coughlin.

The third goal arrived in the 66th minute.

Peers produced an outstanding ball over the top to find Parry, who in turn picked out Blackwell-Jones. His effort was saved by Coughlin, but Peers was quickest to react and followed up from close range to claim his second goal of the afternoon.

Trefelin were looking to get back in the game and it was Kane Owen from distance dragged his shot wide of the target.

With Airbus comfortably ahead, the returning Joe Palmer replaced Mason Blackwell-Jones in the 71st minute, before further changes saw James Hughes and Nath Williams introduced for Kaiden Cooke and Oli Calland seven minutes later.

There was some great work from Parry to let the ball come across his allowing himself space to get a shot off at goal, and it was deflected into the oncoming Sam Rickett and he was unable to direct the ball into the back of the net.

The WingMakers continued to create opportunities in the closing stages. A superb ball from Parry found Evans, but his effort went wide, while another excellent opportunity came from a Jordan Evans free-kick in the 81st minute. Parry met the delivery, only for Coughlin to produce a fantastic save.

Trefelin had one final opportunity in stoppage time when Callum Saunders tried his luck from distance, but the effort rose over the crossbar.

The final whistle confirmed a deserved 3–0 victory for Airbus UK Broughton, with Peers' two goals and Cooke's excellent solo finish providing the foundation for an impressive WingMakers performance.
