Read about Airbus's final home game of the season against Gresford at the Hollingsworth Group Stadium.

Nathan Brown played a part in all four goals, with three assists and a goal for our magician, with Steve Tomassen, George Peers and Oli Lanceley all landing on the scoresheet.

The visitors did get two consolation goals through Dominic Deacon and Joe Chaplin.

Steve O’Shaughnessy made three change to the starting lineup from our 1-0 victory over Llandudno , With Brown, Tomassen and Joe Palmer coming in for the injured Adam Davies, Jamie Crowther and Callum Humphries starting XI.

As for the visitors they made two changes to the starting lineup from their 4-2 victory against Penrhyncoch, With Joe Chaplin and Nathan Williams coming in for Simon Smith and Ewan Medinger dropping out.

The Wingmakers nearly got their home precession off to the perfect start. Brown whipped in a fantastic corner which found Gaz Edwards at the back post, and the veteran narrowly hit the post.

But we wouldn’t be stopped two minutes later. Our number 20 with another fine corner, caused chaos and Peers popped up to tap home from a short range.

Peers almost made it two four minutes later. A neat cross from Simon Spender was hit from range by the number 11, but his effort was blocked by Gresford.

The Champions pushed for the second, and Lanceley on the counter fired from distance, with the woodwork only stopping a possible goal of the season.

The match then calmed after the quick start, until the 31st minute, when Chaplin broke the defensive line, but his effort cut across the box too much and went out to safety.

Brown almost added to the tally with two chanced back to back. First after some neat play, the attacker fired home, only for a scurry by a Gresford defender to block off the line. The rebound from the clearance landed at Brown but he couldn’t keep his second chance under the bar.

As the half time whistle loomed, Peers danced through the Gresford defence, and fired home. His shot was blocked for a corner. From the corner is where our second goal came from. Brown delivered a perfect corner and found captain Tomassen at the back post who headed home in the last act of the first half.

The second half saw a faster start from Eddie Maurice-Jones’s side. But our defence held firm from the barrage.

Joey Palmer with a trademark free kick nearly made it three 12 minutes into the second period, only for Williams in the visitors net to keep the score as it was.

One minute later though, it was three. Brown once again with the assist from cross finding Lanceley free for a tap in.

The Wingmakers were cruising at this point. But in the 66th minute, against the run of play the visitors grabbed one back. A corner found Deacon free who smashed his volley home.

The Wingmakers kept pushing. Brown with another stunning corner found our captain at the back post, but the header was just off target.

Our number 20 was causing problems all game, and found Peers free in the box, but the pace of the sweeping cross just alluded our number 11 from making it four.

However, eight minutes later, we did get our fourth. Brown, breaking the offside trap with an electric break down the right, cutting back and beating Williams in the 1-on-1 to secure the three points.

However, the final act of the match would fall too Gresford. Chaplin with acrobatic effort, managed to beat Lewis Dutton in goal and score a late goal for the visitors.

The final whistle blew, leading to celebrations around the Hollingsworth Group Stadium as we were handed the Cymru North Trophy following the end of the match.

We have two away matches to finish our 2021/22 JD Cymru North winning campaign, starting with another local derby at Holywell Town on Monday. We hope to see as many of you at Halkyn Road as we look to start the final week of the season in style.
