The Gaffer's thoughts after we finish the season with a win and three points

Was it nice to finish the season with three points?

M.A. “Yes it was good to get three points after the draw against Buckley. Also, not having played for a few weeks, it was good to get a game and get the points as it’s a difficult place to go”

Guilsfield took the lead within 10 minutes, was that down to lack of concentration?

M.A. “Yes I think so. As I said we hadn’t played for nearly three weeks and it showed in the first few minutes.

We had a very young back four, the youngest being 21 and who’d never played together so it would have taken a bit of time to gel, which they did and we started to get a bit of a foothold.

Guilsfield started better and deserved the early lead. However, after our first goal, we started to find our rhythm and control aspects of the game”

How would you sum the season up?

M.A. “I think that ultimately all three teams have been excellent in pursuit of the title. Congratulations to both Holywell and Flint as everyone has pushed each other and had to deal with pressures at different times of the season.

For us to not have lost since October and achieve a points total that wins the league in previous years as well as a goals tally is a credit to the players and their attitude and desire. Particularly, with a large majority being part of a poor season for the club the previous year, which meant a lot of rebuilding.

So, as staff we are very pleased and want to build on this next year”

Jordan Evans, Tyler McManus and Keighan Jones have committed for next season, do you see a few more in the coming weeks?

M.A. “Yes it’s good to get some over the line relatively early and I aim to speak to everyone over the next few weeks”
