Saturday it was the return of our legends game as our past players and present linked up for an 11v11 game on the 3g.

The winners would receive the Nick Heath memorial cup.

With the morning warming up with the sun shining on the Hollingsworth Group Stadium the first half ended in 0-0 with a few half chances for both teams.

The second half was when the goals started to arrive.

The legends were the first to break the deadlock, when Becky Lees slotted home and she celebrated in style with her shirt being swung around her head. The referee booked Lees out of jest as the legends scorer laughed at the yellow card.

Airbus women didn't take too long to equalise and the equalising come through Niamh Makin as she anticipated a miss kick by Ceri Evans and Makin calmly passed into an empty net.

The legends took the lead once again this time it come from Tegan Hewitt. She picked the ball up from a pass inside and she opened up to curl a shot towards the top corner which the goalkeeper got her hand to but the effort had too much pace on.

They say you are always vulnerable just after you score and this was the case for legends as a ball was played over their defence and Laura Pratt was the quickest to get to that ball and she rounded Evans before slotting the ball home to make it 2-2.

Airbus were rewarded a penalty with about 10 minutes to go as Pratt was brought down by Evans. Kiera Owen stepped up to take the spot kick and Evans made up for giving the penalty away with a great save down low to her left to deny Airbus taking the lead.

But the legends weren't done with not long remaining they took a 3-2 lead as Poppy Smith gave the legends the win on the day.

Captain Abby Williams lifted the Nick Heath memorial cup to finish a great morning of friendly but competitive football.
